Senior .NET/AWS Cloud Migration Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Evaluate current .NET services, infrastructure, integrations, data repositories, and operational dependencies.

• Create a map of service dependencies and determine migration sequences and strategies.

• Design and develop cloud-native solutions utilizing AWS.

• Containerize and manage services using AWS ECS.

• Construct and uphold infrastructure through Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.

• Engage with event-driven and asynchronous architectures using SNS, SQS, NServiceBus, and RabbitMQ.

• Plan and implement incremental migration phases.

• Develop secure migration and cutover strategies for mission-critical services.

• Execute blue/green deployments, parallel operations, progressive traffic routing, and rollback strategies.

• Address migration issues related to shared databases, authentication, legacy dependencies, and service integrations.

• Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders on dependencies, risks, and delivery priorities.

• Enhance automation, observability, documentation, and operational readiness during AWS migrations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive professional experience in developing and managing production systems with modern .NET.

• Recent, practical commercial experience with AWS.

• Direct involvement in migrating production applications or services to AWS.

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS ECS and containerized workloads.

• Current practical experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.

• Deep understanding of event-driven and asynchronous architectures.

• Production experience with SNS/SQS or similar messaging technologies.

• Experience in conducting complex migrations involving interconnected services and dependencies.

• Strong grasp of CI/CD, automated deployments, rollback strategies, and production readiness.

• Experience executing production migrations with restricted or unacceptable downtime.

• Ability to comprehend unfamiliar technical environments and formulate actionable migration plans.

• Strong personal technical ownership with the capability to articulate design choices and trade-offs.

• Experience with large-scale, high-availability platforms where downtime significantly impacts business operations.

• Experience in an Agile, cross-functional team environment.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Experience with New Relic is a plus.

• Nice to have: hands-on experience with NServiceBus.

• Nice to have: experience with RabbitMQ.

• Nice to have: experience with New Relic.

• Nice to have: prior experience modernizing complex or legacy .NET service estates.
