Senior MongoDB Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Responsible for designing, operating, and maintaining extensive, distributed MongoDB clusters in critical business environments.

• Architecting and scaling replica sets and sharded clusters to ensure high availability and resilience.

• Addressing issues related to cluster performance, load balancing, query optimization, and indexing strategies.

• Planning and executing cluster expansions, rebalancing, failover scenarios, and rolling upgrades in live production settings.

• Automating provisioning, configuration, and operational processes for clusters.

• Monitoring cluster performance and implementing backup and recovery strategies.

• Ensuring effective authentication, access control, encryption, and auditing practices.

• Collaborating with customers and effectively communicating complex technical concepts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Several years of demonstrated experience in building and managing MongoDB clusters within production environments.

• Familiarity with MongoDB Atlas or Enterprise Advanced at scale.

• Knowledge of sharding, replication, election processes, and read/write concerns.

• Proficiency in schema design, aggregation pipelines, and indexing strategies.

• Experience with Ansible, Terraform, Python, or Bash.

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.

• Experience with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud Platform.

• Familiarity with MongoDB Ops Manager, Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK Stack.

• Understanding of LDAP, Kerberos, RBAC, encryption, and auditing.

• Strong collaborative skills and the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly.

• Eagerness to learn new technologies and pursue professional development.

• Willingness to engage with customers and travel as needed.

• Proficiency in German at a minimum C1 level.

• English language skills are a plus.
