Cloud Database Administrator – Google Cloud, GCP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Oversee and implement database solutions centered around Google Cloud Platform and various cloud-based technologies.

• Offer operational support for systems, including administration, issue resolution, and software installations and upgrades.

• Manage enterprise cloud database technologies, such as Microsoft SQL Server and other database systems.

• Configure and sustain database platforms, including executing patches.

• Monitor the performance, utilization, and capacity of databases.

• Administer maintenance plans, backups, and automated tasks.

• Uphold security models for database platforms and manage Active Directory-integrated accounts.

• Create and optimize queries, as well as design database schemas.

• Develop, manage, and enhance Google BigQuery datasets, tables, views, partitioning, clustering, permissions, scheduled queries, and data pipelines.

• Assist in BigQuery SQL development, performance tuning, cost management, data governance, access controls, and integrations.

• Utilize database, cloud, monitoring, DevOps, reporting, and incident management tools.

• Implement AI agents and automation tools to enhance monitoring, incident triage, documentation, workflows, and self-service capabilities.

• Conduct traces and profiling to diagnose issues and enhance performance.

• Guide application and software development teams on database design and query optimization.

• Manage releases and SQL objects through DevOps and version-control tools.

• Provide after-hours on-call support and refine automated alerts.

• Address technical concerns from internal users by troubleshooting database and application issues.

• Document incidents, evaluate severity and impact, and escalate issues as needed.

• Monitor databases to ensure compliance with service-level agreements.

• Communicate status updates and relevant information to end users.

• Reproduce issues in development environments and formulate documented workarounds.

• Assist in employee training.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in database administration within a cloud-based enterprise setting.

• Experience with multiple cloud providers and database platforms is preferred.

• Administrative knowledge of Active Directory and database security protocols.

• Proficiency in scripting and automation techniques.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Strong customer service orientation and analytical capabilities.

• Competence in solving complex problems and implementing effective solutions.

• Ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships.

• Capability to work independently.

• Adaptability and eagerness to learn in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

• Administrative experience with at least one of Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS.

• Experience using or supporting AI agents, copilots, or intelligent automation solutions for database management, cloud operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation, or analytics.

• Familiarity with Linux is advantageous.

• Experience in administering database backup technologies.

• Familiarity with disaster recovery technologies is a plus.

• Over 10 years of experience is preferred, spanning multiple environments.

• Knowledge of MongoDB and other non-Microsoft SQL Server database technologies is a plus.

• Data warehousing experience is beneficial.

• Practical experience with Google Cloud database administration, including BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, IAM, performance tuning, cost optimization, and data governance.

• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation is a plus.

• Availability for after-hours on-call support is required.
