This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sweden, +4 more countries.
• Develop and enhance mobile instrumentation SDKs for iOS utilizing Swift/Objective-C.
• Design and implement features such as session tracking, crash reporting, sampling strategies, automatic context propagation, and integrations with OpenTelemetry.
• Take ownership of projects from inception to completion.
• Decompose complex issues into manageable deliverables, launch MVPs, collect feedback, and refine accordingly.
• Maintain quality through automated testing, continuous integration, comprehensive documentation, and backward-compatible upgrade paths.
• Collaborate with backend, frontend, product, and solutions engineering teams on comprehensive observability workflows.
• Engage with the open-source community by reviewing pull requests, discussing design proposals, and mentoring contributors.
• Guide teammates, participate in technical design discussions, and influence the mobile observability roadmap.
• Strong mobile engineering background with iOS (Swift/Obj-C); Android (Kotlin/Java) experience is a plus.
• Proven experience in building or maintaining mobile SDKs, platform libraries, or developer-facing platform code utilized by external developers.
• Experience with performance-critical code, including startup times, memory usage, and network efficiency.
• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry or experience in contributing to/maintaining OTel SDKs or similar telemetry libraries.
• Comfortable working within a fully remote, globally distributed team.
• Contributions to OpenTelemetry, crash reporting libraries, or other observability open-source software (bonus).
• Knowledge of cross-platform frameworks such as React Native or Flutter, or experience in creating native bindings/bridges (bonus).
• Experience addressing mobile security, privacy, or platform integration challenges (bonus).
• Previous work on crash aggregation, session replay, or sampling for mobile telemetry (bonus).
