Senior Mining Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Oversee the planning, design, and optimization processes for mining projects from initial design to production.

• Manage technical studies including PEA, PFS, and FS, along with production schedules, ventilation, and operational enhancements.

• Provide mentorship, supervise contractors, and ensure adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

• Assist in converting resources to reserves, evaluating project economics, and engaging with stakeholders.

• Develop and assess open-pit mine plans and underground mine designs as a mining engineering consultant.

• Implement innovative methodologies for conceptual, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and operational mining projects.

• Draft and author technical reports, including serving as a Qualified Person (QP) when applicable.

• Build, maintain, and enhance client relationships.

• Conduct technical and economic assessments of underground and open-pit mining projects.

• Take part in project budgeting, cash flow analyses, net present value (NPV), and internal rate of return (IRR) evaluations.

• Design and optimize both short- and long-term open-pit mine plans.

• Create clear, concise, and technically robust reports and presentations.

• Travel to client locations in Canada and internationally for short-term assignments as needed.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists, metallurgists, geotechnical engineers, and environmental specialists.

• Support business development efforts, proposals, and client engagement initiatives.

• Provide training in areas such as mine planning, evaluation, reclamation planning, operations management, environmental management, and equipment selection.

• Take responsibility, as needed, for special projects, strategic initiatives, or other ad hoc tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or a related engineering field, such as civil, mechanical, or process engineering.

• At least 15 years of technical experience in the mining sector.

• More than 10 years of experience in project evaluation, budgeting, and cost estimation from initiation to completion.

• Proven leadership and management skills with multidisciplinary teams.

• Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.

• Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Additional language skills, such as French, Spanish, Russian, or Arabic, may be necessary based on the role and project location.

• In-depth understanding of mining operations, mine planning, project development, and economic evaluation.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Familiarity with AutoCAD.

• Expertise in one or more mining software packages, such as GEOVIA GEMS, Sculpte, Vulcan, Datamine, Surpac, or Micromine.

• Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced consulting environment.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing and report development.

• Strong attention to detail and effective time management capabilities.

• Capacity to work under pressure and meet tight project deadlines.

• Ability to read, comprehend, and follow work instructions safely, accurately, and efficiently.

• Willingness to work extended hours as necessary.

• Availability to travel periodically to SGS offices, client sites, and project locations in Canada and internationally.
