This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Establish and nurture relationships with essential stakeholders in the medical and scientific fields within the designated geographic and therapeutic area.
• Deliver credible clinical and scientific information and education to healthcare professionals, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), professional organizations, and payers.
• Cultivate relationships with KOLs through scientific dialogue and address inquiries regarding scientific content.
• Evaluate KOL alignment with the scientific framework to guide territory and medical strategies.
• Develop KOL advocates and collaborators within the specified territory.
• Compliantly support company-sponsored research, investigator-initiated studies, and publications.
• Mentor and assist Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) with strategies for KOL access and engagement.
• Research and identify KOLs and Focus KOLs relevant to the assigned therapeutic area.
• Construct and implement a territory plan aimed at achieving KOL engagement objectives.
• Conduct independent pre-call preparations for productive KOL interactions.
• Stay informed on emerging scientific literature and clinical data, translating it into relevant knowledge.
• Address Medical Information Request Forms (MIRFs) within specified deadlines.
• Ethically disseminate clinical and scientific information regarding FDA-approved and pipeline products in a customer-oriented manner.
• Gather and respond to scientific and clinical insights to enhance organizational communications and coordinated activities.
• Participate in advisory boards.
• Monitor, categorize, and classify team insights.
• Contribute scientific content and develop materials for projects and initiatives.
• Independently manage projects, including planning, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and quality assurance.
• Coordinate the work of others and provide guidance to achieve project objectives.
• Mentor MSLs and lead planning and reporting for congress events.
• Create training materials utilizing effective instructional design principles.
• Provide scientific and medical training and support to the MSL team and internal partners.
• Collaborate across a matrix organization with internal departments and external stakeholders.
• Report to the Field Director of MSLs.
• Avoid actions that may give the impression of sales or prescribing responsibilities.
• Advanced scientific degree (MD, OD, PhD, PharmD) or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, another healthcare setting, or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 2 years in a leadership role is preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of medicine, treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, customer strategies, FDA promotional guidelines, regulations, and ethical guidelines is preferred.
• Ability to establish and develop relationships with high-level stakeholders.
• Skill in effectively communicating scientific content in one-on-one meetings, small groups, and in writing.
• Proven project management skills, including timeline management, stakeholder engagement, and risk control.
• Demonstrated capacity to design and facilitate effective training programs.
• Experience in a mentoring capacity.
• Ability to independently research and address scientific inquiries.
• Skill in identifying and developing effective plans for engaging KOLs in the assigned territory.
• Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities with internal departments.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Prior experience in Hepatology, Nephrology, or Transplantation is preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time.
