Senior Medical Affairs Scientist, Field Obesity

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Offer advanced medical and scientific knowledge in obesity and cardiometabolic medicine for the obesity pipeline, focusing on GLP-1 therapies and the wider cardiometabolic landscape.

• Establish and nurture a strategically pertinent network of clinical and scientific experts, institutions, professional organizations, and research groups.

• Oversee and strategically cultivate external speakers and research collaborators.

• Identify, engage in discussions, and tackle strategically significant medical and pharmaceutical inquiries and projects.

• Lead regional or national Medical Advisory Boards and roundtable discussions.

• Critically evaluate clinical research, significant publications, and congress presentations.

• Interpret findings into applicable medical and scientific implications, while proactively recognizing and conceptually developing research ideas.

• Make a substantial impact on the formulation of the Medical Plan.

• Independently manage selected regional or national implementation initiatives, along with strategically vital Medical projects and workstreams.

• Provide expert advice and mentorship to Field Medical Affairs Scientists, and assist the Medical Director with onboarding, knowledge enhancement, and team development.

• Take ownership of topics in internal knowledge management and document pertinent insights in OneMed.

• Develop scientific expertise that is independent of specific products.

• Consistently apply and provide guidance on Medical Compliance.

• Independently generate and review medical and scientific materials.

• This is a field-based position requiring approximately 50% virtual interactions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Degree in human medicine, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, or a natural science discipline, fulfilling the criteria for scientific expertise under Section 75 of the German Medicinal Products Act; a doctorate is preferred.

• Minimum of five years in the pharmaceutical industry, or at least two years of industry experience combined with relevant clinical or scientific expertise in the therapeutic area.

• Extensive medical and pharmaceutical knowledge, including scientific methodology and clinical study analysis.

• Proven, comprehensive metabolic expertise.

• Demonstrated experience in independently managing complex projects or workstreams, including in cross-functional and matrix-organized settings.

• Established experience in strategically cultivating networks with external experts.

• Fluent in German at C1 level or higher.

• Strong command of English.

• Valid Category B driving license.

• Ability to strategically evaluate intricate scientific topics, effectively communicate them to diverse audiences, and formulate actionable recommendations.

• Exceptional presentation, communication, facilitation, and influencing abilities.

• Strong team spirit and capability to act as a role model.

• Willingness to provide expert advice, mentorship, and knowledge transfer without direct people-management responsibilities.

• Proficient in digital collaboration tools.
