This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico, +5 more countries.
• Create compact, high-performance rotary and linear actuators utilizing harmonic or strain-wave, planetary, cycloidal, and innovative drive architectures.
• Manage actuator and precision-drive designs from initial concept development through prototyping, validation, production readiness, and customer integration.
• Apply first-principles engineering, kinematics, statics, dynamics, and materials expertise to make informed decisions regarding architecture and design.
• Assess competing concepts through analytical calculations, engineering trade studies, simulations, and physical testing.
• Construct and enhance prototypes to boost torque density, efficiency, durability, manufacturability, packaging, and overall system performance.
• Collaborate with materials and manufacturing engineers to integrate advanced materials and fabrication methods into functional mechanical designs.
• Work closely with customer engineering teams to ensure drive systems fulfill mechanical, electrical, packaging, and control-interface specifications.
• Generate comprehensive CAD models, engineering drawings, bills of materials, assembly documentation, and other necessary information for manufacturing and integrating designs.
• Develop and carry out verification tests, analyze test data, identify root causes, and refine designs based on real-world performance outcomes.
• Engage in technical design reviews and assist with design verification and integration tasks through successful deployment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a closely related engineering field.
• Over 3 years of professional experience in designing electromechanical actuators, gear systems, precision drive mechanisms, or similar mechanical systems.
• Strong grasp of mechanical design principles, including kinematics, statics, dynamics, and material behavior.
• Proven understanding of precision actuators, gearing, or mechanical power-transmission systems.
• Expertise in modern 3D CAD software and widely used mechanical simulation or engineering analysis tools.
• Practical experience in building, machining, assembling, and testing mechanical or electromechanical prototypes.
• Capability to advance a mechanical design beyond CAD and contribute to physical validation and design iterations.
• A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with an emphasis on machine design, dynamics, robotics, or mechatronics is a plus.
• More than 5 years of experience in designing electromechanical actuators, gear systems, or precision drive mechanisms is desirable.
• Familiarity with harmonic or strain-wave drives, planetary gearing, cycloidal drives, or other high-ratio transmission architectures is beneficial.
• A record of transitioning mechanical hardware from initial concept to production is advantageous.
• Experience collaborating directly with customers or external engineering teams during hardware integration is a plus.
