This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.
• Lead and cultivate a team of attorneys that support the pharmacy network operations business within the PBM organization.
• Act as the primary legal advisor for pharmacy network operations strategies, initiatives, and business goals.
• Provide daily legal counsel concerning pharmacy network operations, including contracting, reimbursement, credentialing, network strategy, and compliance with regulations.
• Offer advice on state and federal laws and regulations that affect PBMs, pharmacy networks, and the healthcare supply chain.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and offer strategic guidance on complex agreements related to healthcare and pharmacy.
• Collaborate with business leaders on strategic initiatives, business transformations, and enterprise projects that influence pharmacy network operations.
• Work in conjunction with internal legal teams, such as regulatory, compliance, privacy, litigation, and transactional counsel.
• Build strong relationships with senior business stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor to leadership.
• Ensure the provision of high-quality legal support while balancing legal risks with business objectives.
• Mentor, coach, and develop attorneys while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a recognized law school.
• Valid license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• A minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with a substantial background in healthcare regulatory and transactional law.
• At least 6 years of direct legal experience in PBM, supporting pharmacy benefit management operations, pharmacy networks, or related PBM functions.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in people leadership, managing attorneys or legal professionals.
• Proven experience advising PBM business leaders on operational, strategic, and regulatory issues.
• Experience in drafting and negotiating complex agreements pertaining to healthcare, pharmacy, networks, or supply chains.
• Strong understanding of federal and state healthcare laws and regulations, including the Anti-Kickback Statute, HIPAA, and other laws related to healthcare fraud and abuse.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically, utilize sound judgment, and provide practical, business-focused legal advice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience in advising on pharmacy contracting, reimbursement, network management, credentialing, or pharmacy operations.
• Prior in-house legal experience in the healthcare sector, supporting a PBM or health plan.
