This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, develop, and retain a team of software engineers at Iris AI.
• Recruit, mentor, conduct one-on-one meetings, perform performance evaluations, and facilitate career advancement.
• Convert product and engineering roadmaps into actionable operational plans.
• Take ownership of team delivery, project scope, and priorities.
• Collaborate with engineering managers, Product, UX, Architecture, and platform teams.
• Oversee daily engineering operations while balancing feature delivery, system reliability, technical debt, LLM costs, and latency.
• Implement quality practices for non-deterministic systems, including evaluation harnesses, prompt and agent regression testing, and monitoring of production model behavior.
• Ensure AI features comply with security and privacy standards, covering tenant data isolation, defenses against prompt injection, tool misuse prevention, and responsible handling of customer audit data.
• Supervise code and design reviews focusing on performance, security, and maintainability.
• Manage infrastructure as code utilizing Terraform, CI/CD, monitoring, on-call support, and incident response.
• Advocate for AI-first engineering practices and evaluate the impact of coding-agent utilization.
• Report directly to the Director of Engineering at Iris AI.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Over 2 years of direct management experience with software engineering teams.
• Strong hands-on engineering experience.
• More than 7 years of experience in designing, developing, and deploying enterprise software products to production.
• Practical experience in launching products based on LLMs, including inference, structured outputs, RAG, tool invocation, or agents.
• Familiarity with Azure AI Foundry, OpenAI API, Amazon Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, Anthropic API, or similar technologies.
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, API design, microservices, and multi-tenant SaaS architecture.
• Experience with a leading cloud provider; Azure is preferred.
• Capability to translate roadmaps into executable plans, prioritize tasks, and manage resources to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Must not require any form of U.S. work authorization at present or in the future, including F1-OPT, F1-CPT, H-1B, TN, L-1, and J1.
