Senior Manager, Services Sales, Margin Accounting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Direct the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes for managed services and professional services revenue, associated costs, and gross margin.

• Assess customer contracts, statements of work, and changes to contracts in accordance with ASC 606.

• Convert contract terms and accounting decisions into operational requirements necessary for project setup, revenue recognition, billing, and modifications to contracts.

• Collaborate with project managers and Services Operations regarding project budgets, estimates at completion, progress updates, and changes in scope.

• Supervise unbilled revenue, deferred revenue, revenue and cost accruals, and related accounts on the balance sheet.

• Examine services revenue and gross margin trends, providing explanations for accounting and operational influences.

• Work closely with Services leadership, Sales, Operations, Legal, and Technology to develop new offerings and commercial agreements.

• Create and enhance scalable accounting processes utilizing data, automation, and AI-powered tools.

• Uphold SOX controls and assist with both internal and external audit processes.

• Lead and mentor the accounting team through effective delegation, coaching, and accountability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.

• Over 7 years of experience in Accounting or Finance.

• More than 3 years in a managerial position.

• Experience in professional services, managed services, technology consulting, or other project-based and recurring service industries is preferred.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.

• Advanced knowledge of revenue recognition guidelines and their application to intricate fact patterns.

• Exceptional expertise in financial closing processes.

• Proficient in financial software and tools.

• Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving capabilities.

• Leadership experience in managing and nurturing high-performing teams.

• CPA certification and experience in public accounting is an advantage.
