This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of Billtrust’s complete billing operations and revenue recognition processes.
• Oversee daily global revenue accounting activities and monthly closing processes in accordance with ASC 606, U.S. GAAP, and corporate policies.
• Streamline manual revenue procedures and facilitate the transition to accrual-based closing methodologies.
• Analyze and document accounting conclusions for both standard and non-standard customer contracts, including SSP studies, contract modifications, and principal versus agent assessments.
• Provide guidance on revenue recognition implications during contract negotiations and collaborate with Sales and Legal to ensure compliant deal structures.
• Direct billing operations related to new agreements, subscription renewals, usage billing, and overage charges.
• Track billing metrics, uncover trends and risks, and utilize AI tools to identify anomalies and expedite reconciliation.
• Address complex billing and customer challenges through collaborative efforts across functions.
• Collaborate with FP&A on revenue trends, anomalies, board materials, and reporting insights.
• Develop and refine SOX-compliant internal controls and prepare documentation for external revenue audits.
• Counsel Accounting Leadership on intricate revenue issues and represent Billing/Revenue in evaluations of technology stacks.
• Lead a global team of 11, which includes two managers based in the U.S. and India.
• Recruit, train, retain, and nurture accounting and billing professionals.
• Create AI-assisted workflows, establish performance goals, conduct reviews, and foster career development.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in revenue recognition and billing operations.
• In-depth technical accounting expertise in ASC 606 within a SaaS framework.
• Understanding of contract modifications, principal versus agent considerations, and SSP studies.
• Proven experience managing people managers and building teams of at least 10, including distributed/global teams.
• Familiarity with billing and ERP systems such as BillingPlatform, Sage Intacct, or similar solutions.
• Experience with CRM platforms like Salesforce.
• Demonstrated success in designing and implementing SOX-compliant internal controls in a quote-to-cash environment.
• A history of driving AI adoption within a team or function.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting is preferred.
• Experience with Big 4 public company audits is preferred.
• Previous experience in ERP or billing platform evaluation/migration is preferred.
• Ability to prioritize and delegate effectively in a fast-paced environment is preferred.
