Senior Manager, QA Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Implement the quality engineering strategy across various squads and ensure testing priorities are aligned with product and engineering goals.

• Guide, mentor, and nurture a diverse team of QA engineers and analysts.

• Take ownership of and enhance the test automation strategy, architecture, tools, and standards.

• Advance automation maturity, maintainability, coverage, and effectiveness within engineering teams.

• Minimize manual regression testing through dependable automation and risk-based testing approaches.

• Conduct adequate exploratory and manual testing for thorough product coverage.

• Spearhead the shift towards shared quality ownership across Quality, Engineering, and Product teams.

• Set and track KPIs related to quality, efficiency, defect trends, and readiness for release.

• Identify testing risks, dependencies, and quality gaps, and develop strategies for mitigation.

• Enhance QA workflows, standards, and operational practices.

• Oversee team capacity, resource allocation, and priorities.

• Assess and implement AI-assisted methods for test creation, maintenance, execution, analysis, defect detection, and team productivity.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and cross-functional teams to define quality standards and enhance testing practices.

• Act as a senior representative of the Quality organization to the Director of Quality when required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in QA engineering, software quality, or a related discipline.

• More than 5 years of formal or informal leadership experience.

• Demonstrated ability to define and scale test automation strategies, frameworks, tools, and standards in complex software environments.

• Strong technical expertise in evaluating automation architectures, frameworks, code quality, CI/CD integrations, and technical trade-offs.

• Advanced proficiency in automated testing tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, JUnit, and TestNG.

• Profound understanding of QA methodologies, software development lifecycles, defect management, and test planning.

• Familiarity with Jira, TestRail, and quality metrics.

• Proven capability to lead organizational change and influence Engineering and Product teams towards shared quality ownership.

• Demonstrated experience leading QA teams across various disciplines, products, or engineering squads.

• Proven track record of enhancing team efficiency or output quality through AI tools and automation.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.

• Capability to balance long-term strategic planning with tactical execution.

• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Strong technical judgment and decision-making skills in complex or uncertain situations.

• Ability to establish clarity, accountability, and progress in undefined environments.
