This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, mentor, and develop managers, supervisors, and team members.
• Interpret, apply, and educate teams on payroll tax regulations, including FEA requirements, Difficulty of Care exemptions, IRS Notice 2014-7, and relevant Internal Revenue Code provisions.
• Supervise payroll tax reconciliations, tax deposits, quarterly and annual filings, state employer filings, annual information returns, and W-2 reporting.
• Manage payroll tax audits and ensure accurate audit documentation is maintained.
• Foster relationships with federal and state tax agencies to address issues and enhance operations.
• Assist with state tax account maintenance, SUTA rate management, and compliance with state and local taxes.
• Track and enhance KPIs, service level agreements, compliance standards, and operational objectives.
• Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management for designated teams.
• Contribute to business continuity and recovery planning efforts.
• Address complex payroll tax issues through analysis, problem-solving, and informed decision-making.
• Direct the review and resolution of payroll tax notices, agency communications, and escalated tax matters.
• Present operational reports, compliance updates, risk assessments, and progress on strategic initiatives to leadership.
• Execute process improvements, identify automation opportunities, and enhance operational efficiencies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Over 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a high-volume, multi-state payroll tax environment.
• Proven experience leading managers, supervisors, or large operational teams.
• Proficiency with ADP MasterTax, Workday, or similar payroll tax systems is required.
• Familiarity with Internal Revenue Code Section 3504, shared liability concepts, and aggregate filing requirements.
• Extensive knowledge of payroll tax regulations, including FEA processing, Difficulty of Care exemptions, family member payroll tax exemptions, and FICA refund procedures.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational abilities.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Proven success in building and maintaining collaborative, high-performing teams.
• High standards of integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% as necessary.
• Flexibility to work extended or irregular hours if required.
• Ability to pass necessary background screening.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship or STEM OPT extensions available.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience with Dynamics Solomon is preferred.
• CPP, CPA, or similar payroll tax certification is preferred.
