Senior Manager, Learning & Delivery

Posted Jul 23

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Talent Planning and Talent Enablement Partners to translate capability requirements into clear learning outcomes and efficient learning and development solutions that can be quickly utilized by the business.

• Approach learning needs with an 80/20 perspective: identify the reusable core that accelerates OpCos and the last-mile customization necessary for local relevance and adoption.

• Oversee the Learning & Delivery Specialist by setting priorities, delegating tasks, reviewing outputs, and providing coaching and performance feedback to ensure execution remains agile, practical, and aligned with customer needs.

• Create and develop curricula and content that OpCos can implement with minimal friction—clear, practical, and designed for real-world use by leaders and employees in their workflow.

• Build and sustain a unified set of learning content covering priority capabilities, while assigning tasks to and evaluating the outputs of the Learning & Delivery Specialist to enhance capacity and uphold quality.

• Concentrate content development on key capabilities such as GEM leadership skills, FBS Fundamentals, people leadership, change management, onboarding, and other needs driven by the roadmap.

• Develop content with a reuse-first mentality: begin with off-the-shelf learning when applicable, then incorporate Fortive or OpCo examples only when they enhance relevance, uptake, and outcomes.

• Act as the primary facilitator for Fortive-wide programs, including ECO, FBSLO, Ignite, and ALE at Talent Edge, with responsibility for delivery quality, learner experience, and ongoing improvement of these flagship programs.

• Personally lead the most crucial content development and other high-visibility learning engagements, while coaching and reviewing the work completed by the Learning & Delivery Specialist.

• Take ownership of designing and developing change management curriculum and capability-building content in partnership with the FBS Office for localized delivery through TE Partners.

• Work with a quick pilot bias: test with one or more OpCos, gauge usefulness and adoption, iterate rapidly, and scale successful solutions.

• Conduct robust VOC loops with Talent Enablement Partners, learners, and OpCo HR and leadership teams to enhance content clarity, usability, and real-world applicability.

• Guide the Learning & Delivery Specialist through pilot cycles, content refinement, and facilitation feedback to ensure continuous improvement in output and responsiveness to customer feedback.

• Establish lightweight effectiveness measures such as participation, completion, on-the-job application, leader feedback, and business-aligned outcomes wherever possible, using results to enhance both content and delivery methods.

• Maintain a best practice library across OpCos so teams can leverage proven tools, content, and approaches rather than starting anew.

• Facilitate straightforward benchmarking across OpCos and with external sources to ensure content remains current, practical, and beneficial to the business.

• Build and manage a pool of internal and external expertise, guiding the Learning & Delivery Specialist in sourcing, curating, and adapting suitable content, facilitators, SMEs, vendors, and platforms as needs evolve.

• Listen, evaluate, and integrate feedback while maintaining high quality standards, ensuring content is easy for OpCos to reuse, implement, and apply.

• Utilize insights from TE Partner needs assessment, Talent Planning, People Insights, and FLT priorities to clarify what changes are necessary, who the audience is, and what business outcomes are required.

• Define what success looks like and how learners will apply the content in real work scenarios, ensuring the solution remains practical and relevant.

• Determine which tasks to lead personally and which to delegate to the Learning & Delivery Specialist based on complexity, visibility, and business needs.

• Review existing Fortive content, OpCo best practices, and off-the-shelf resources to identify the quickest path to an effective solution.

• Develop the shared core once and create modular add-ons for OpCo customization when necessary.

• Personally oversee the most critical builds and direct facilitation efforts, utilizing the Learning & Delivery Specialist to enhance capacity and efficiency.

• Customize for Fortive only when it enhances relevance, adoption, and outcomes, such as language, examples, leader expectations, or integration of GEM and FBS.

• Conduct small pilots with OpCos to evaluate learning design, content usability, and facilitation guidance prior to a broader rollout.

• Gather VOC, usage signals, and facilitator feedback, using these insights to promptly refine both content and the delivery experience.

• Review the work of the Learning & Delivery Specialist, provide coaching, and maintain high quality standards across both direct and delegated tasks.

• Prepare for scalability so OpCos can deploy consistently: facilitator guides, leader toolkits, participant materials, and clear deployment instructions, specifying what is delivered centrally versus through TE Partners or OpCo HR.

• Regularly refresh the shared curriculum and leading practice library based on new OpCo innovations, external benchmarks, and evolving Fortive priorities.

• Connect the right internal and external experts to the relevant capability needs to minimize reinvention and expedite deployment.

• Mentor the Learning & Delivery Specialist in effectively utilizing the library and network to enhance team speed and consistency.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Human Resources, Learning and Development, Education, Organizational Development, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Business, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

• Typically 8–10+ years of experience in learning design, curriculum development, leadership development, talent development, instructional design, facilitation, or other capability-building roles.

• Strong capabilities in learning design and curriculum development from needs analysis through development, piloting, iteration, and scaling.

• Proficient facilitation skills, including experience leading high-visibility enterprise programs and ensuring a consistent, high-quality learner experience.

• Experience managing or coaching others in a player-coach model, including task assignment, reviewing outputs, and assisting others in enhancing quality and execution.

• Strong inclination for experimentation and iteration; comfortable with quickly testing content, integrating customer feedback, and driving continuous improvement.

• Resourceful builder mindset: adept at curating, adapting, and integrating off-the-shelf learning efficiently rather than creating everything from scratch.

• Familiar with modern learning delivery approaches and tools, including blended learning, cohorts, leader toolkits, micro-learning, virtual and in-person facilitation, and AI, to promote adoption across OpCos.

• Capable of building and managing an internal and external expertise network and applying benchmarks and leading practices in a pragmatic manner.

• Comfortable collaborating across a decentralized, multi-OpCo framework while balancing local context with shared content, consistency, and reuse.

• Knowledge of change management frameworks and the ability to design change capability content that integrates with FBS and operational cadence.

• Learning technology orientation: capable of shaping content strategy that aligns with LMS capabilities and supports straightforward access, search, and reuse.
