This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more countries.
• Develop the Central Intake and Investigations Hub throughout the organization.
• Foster relationships with the People team, Internal Audit, Safeguarding, HR Managers, and Country Directors.
• Enhance the intake, triage, and case allocation processes.
• Lead the most intricate investigations and generate findings reports along with recommendations.
• Establish investigation standards and ensure quality assurance for investigations conducted by other teams.
• Supervise and provide assistance for staff-related issues managed by Internal Audit or Safeguarding.
• Assess the organizational training requirements and direction for investigations.
• Develop and maintain a centralized system of record for staff-related matters.
• Conduct regular reporting and calibration with internal stakeholders and approve relevant internal and external reports.
• Design case management systems and controls.
• Discover practical applications of automation and AI for triage, documentation, and reporting.
• Recruit, oversee, and nurture future Program Manager roles.
• Build the function to scale with the organization's growth.
• 5-7 years of experience in leading workplace (misconduct) investigations, including cases involving senior personnel and allegations of sexual misconduct.
• Proven experience managing investigations from start to finish, including terms of reference to findings reports.
• Proficiency in setting investigation standards and quality assuring the work of others.
• Solid understanding of employee relations and the distinction between investigations and employment decisions.
• Experience in multiple countries and various legal contexts.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed and survivor-centered practices.
• Familiarity with establishing or enhancing investigative systems, generating reports from case data, or implementing tools that improved team workflows.
• Professional fluency in English.
• Professional working proficiency in either French, Swahili, or Portuguese.
• Strong alignment with GiveDirectly Values and a demonstrable capacity for emotional intelligence, problem-solving, project management, follow-through, and promoting inclusivity.
• Ability to overlap with an East Africa timezone by at least 3 hours and effectively overlap with US Eastern hours.
• Capability to work remotely from an eligible country.
• Must not require employer sponsorship or transfer of employment visas in the U.S. or U.K.
• Readiness and ability to travel occasionally and unpredictably for team meetings, co-locations, or operational countries.
• Successful completion of reference, criminal background, sanctions, and misconduct-related checks.
