This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +42 more states.
• Provide leadership and guidance to Epic analysts, developers, and configuration teams within designated Epic modules.
• Act as the main technical and functional point of escalation for issues related to Epic development.
• Establish and uphold Epic development standards, construction guidelines, and governance procedures.
• Collaborate with Informatics, Clinical Leadership, and IT leadership to ensure Epic development aligns with the organization's strategic objectives.
• Contribute to planning the Epic roadmap, optimization projects, and system upgrades.
• Supervise the build, configuration, and customization of Epic applications within assigned modules.
• Ensure that Epic development complies with best practices, security protocols, and regulatory standards.
• Review and authorize design specifications, build documentation, and change requests.
• Lead intricate Epic enhancements, workflows, and the development of clinical decision support systems.
• Provide guidance in the development and support of Epic integrations utilizing HL7, FHIR, Bridges, Interconnect, and APIs.
• Work alongside interface and infrastructure teams to ensure reliable data exchange and optimal system performance.
• Facilitate unit, integrated, and user acceptance testing.
• Oversee Epic upgrades, patches, and special updates.
• Transform clinical and operational requirements into technical solutions within Epic.
• Conduct design sessions and workflow assessments with clinicians and business partners.
• Convey risks, timelines, and impacts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Assist with go-lives, stabilization efforts, and post-implementation enhancements.
• Monitor system performance, data integrity, and metrics related to user adoption.
• Ensure that Epic configurations promote patient safety, clinical quality, and fulfill reporting requirements.
• Identify opportunities for automating workflows, standardizing processes, and enhancing efficiency.
• Certification in Ambulatory OR Healthy Planet OR Both.
• Proven critical thinking and advanced problem-solving abilities within a large, matrixed organization with diverse healthcare delivery teams.
• Experience in presenting and resolving issues with senior leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Over 7 years of experience with Epic EHR, including practical build and configuration experience.
• At least 3 years in a lead, senior analyst, or supervisory role supporting Epic systems.
• Active Epic certification(s) in one or more Epic modules.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare clinical workflows and operations.
• Experience leading complex Epic projects or large-scale implementations.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in Healthcare Informatics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Preferred: Multiple Epic certifications across clinical and/or revenue cycle modules.
• Preferred: Experience with Epic upgrades, re-implementations, or enterprise optimizations.
• Preferred: Familiarity with interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, CCD, APIs).
• Preferred: Experience in an academic medical center or large integrated delivery network.
• Preferred: Knowledge of Agile, Lean, or ITIL methodologies.
