This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of the Domestic Operations Safety Program throughout pellet mills and distribution centers.
• Create and standardize practices for safety, environmental compliance, operational risk, emergency response, security, and business continuity across domestic operations.
• Lead a team comprising two Plant EHSS and Operational Risk Managers while providing coaching and technical direction to site leaders.
• Collaborate with distribution center leadership teams to unify safety culture and practices across the Domestic Operations network.
• Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, HR, quality, continuous improvement, and enterprise leaders to weave safety and risk expectations into daily operations and business planning.
• Take charge of audits, inspections, incident investigations, regulatory interactions, corrective-action processes, and risk assessments.
• Design and manage safety training programs, communications, performance metrics, reporting, and leadership review processes.
• Leverage data, observations, and trend analysis to pinpoint risks, prioritize improvements, and ensure ongoing compliance and operational risk reduction.
• Suggest standards, priorities, and investments based on field observations, risk trends, and operational performance.
• Conduct site and multi-site investigations, audits, training, and corrective-action initiatives.
• Monitor and report on performance, drive prompt corrective actions, ensure site accountability, and achieve lasting risk reduction.
• Manage assigned projects and vendor activities within the established budget and authority.
• Use independent judgment within the framework of established policy, escalating significant risk or regulatory issues as necessary.
• Travel to pellet mills, distribution centers, and other company locations as dictated by business requirements.
• A Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental health and safety, engineering, operations management, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be acceptable.
• Progressive experience in leading safety, environmental compliance, or operational risk programs within manufacturing, distribution, or industrial operations.
• Familiarity with OSHA requirements and relevant environmental regulations applicable to manufacturing and distribution settings.
• Proven experience in leading investigations, audits, corrective-action processes, safety training, and performance reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to influence leadership, mentor site teams, and maintain consistent standards across various locations.
• Strong skills in communication, facilitation, analysis, project management, and problem-solving.
• Preferred experience in 24/7 manufacturing operations, pellet mill operations, warehousing, or distribution centers.
• Preferred experience in managing programs related to combustible dust, Behavior-Based Safety, Safety GEMBA, emergency preparedness, or business continuity.
• Professional safety or environmental certification such as CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM, or an equivalent certification is preferred.
• Preferred experience working with regulatory bodies, insurers, consultants, and third-party auditors.
• Capability to work in manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, extreme weather, and office environments as required.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, and navigate through production, warehouse, and outdoor areas during site visits, audits, and inspections.
• Capacity to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull items in line with business needs and site safety protocols.
• Ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, hard hats, gloves, respirators, or other site-specific PPE.
• Willingness to travel to company locations and engage in site activities across multiple shifts as business needs necessitate.
• Proficient in using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment for extended periods.
