This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
• Act as the in-house authority on discovery practices across personal injury jurisdictions, encompassing interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, objections, meet-and-confer standards, and motions to compel.
• Establish and uphold quality standards, templates, and playbooks.
• Personally assess or review outputs on complex or high-risk cases.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams to convert discovery expertise into AI-assisted workflow systems.
• Keep abreast of statutory and common-law developments impacting discovery across the country.
• Revise team guidance and client-facing service level agreements (SLAs).
• Serve as the escalation point for legally sensitive judgment calls, jurisdiction-specific objection strategies, privilege matters, and uncovered edge cases.
• Create the comprehensive delivery workflow, which includes intake, drafting, quality assurance/review, client sign-off, and turnaround guarantees.
• Develop the staffing model for the delivery team.
• Own and report on metrics including turnaround time, quality/error rates, client satisfaction, and throughput per full-time equivalent (FTE).
• Identify and implement process enhancements as volume increases.
• Determine the appropriate balance between automation and human review.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop team members.
• Act as the primary liaison between the Discovery team and firm leadership/clients regarding escalations, edge cases, and account-level matters.
• Report directly to the VP of Operations.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) and an active bar license in good standing in at least one U.S. state.
• Over 7 years of experience in personal injury litigation.
• Extensive hands-on experience in discovery, including drafting and defending written discovery, objections, and motion practice related to discovery disputes.
• Previous experience in managing personnel and/or leading a team or function.
• Proficient in working with metrics and service level agreements (SLAs).
• Working knowledge of legal technology and AI-assisted drafting tools.
• A clear perspective on where AI-generated output requires human judgment.
• Ability to convey legal nuances into clear and actionable guidance for engineers, product managers, and operations staff.
