This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Identify, develop, and implement strategic business development initiatives that promote company growth within USSOCOM and the SOF enterprise.
• Create and sustain a qualified opportunity pipeline encompassing USSOCOM, SOF organizations, Combatant Commands, allied Special Operations entities, and pertinent defense markets.
• Direct opportunity qualification, competitive positioning, account planning, and strategies for customer engagement.
• Formulate customer engagement plans that align with SOF modernization priorities, JADC2, CJADC2, Integrated Deterrence, and the needs of globally deployed SOF.
• Perform market analysis, competitive intelligence assessments, technology evaluations, and customer research.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to devise long-term growth strategies.
• Establish and nurture trusted relationships with senior leaders across government, defense, and industry sectors.
• Represent SES Space & Defense at conferences, industry days, customer meetings, exercises, experimentation events, and government forums.
• Forge strategic partnerships, teaming arrangements, and technology collaborations.
• Act as a liaison between customers and internal Engineering, Operations, Product Management, and Program teams.
• Assist in capture activities from opportunity identification through to contract award.
• Develop winning strategies, value propositions, competitive positioning, pricing strategies, and differentiators.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary solution development, technical responses, and proposal execution.
• Contribute to proposal evaluations, executive briefings, white papers, customer presentations, and technical exchanges.
• Maintain opportunity data, pipeline forecasts, and customer engagement activities in CRM systems.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Finance, Legal, Contracts, Product Management, and Program Management teams.
• Provide market intelligence and customer insights to shape product strategy, service innovation, and technology investments.
• Mentor junior business development professionals.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, International Relations, Political Science, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated success in business development, capture management, strategic sales, or growth leadership within the defense, aerospace, satellite communications, or government technology industries.
• Proven track record of developing and securing business opportunities with USSOCOM, SOF Component Commands, Combatant Commands, Department of Defense organizations, or allied Special Operations partners.
• Strong comprehension of USSOCOM acquisition processes, rapid capability development, OTA agreements, FAR-based procurements, contract vehicles, and the federal acquisition lifecycle.
• Established ability to cultivate executive-level customer relationships and influence strategic decision-making.
• Experience in managing multi-million-dollar opportunity pipelines and achieving revenue growth targets.
• Excellent presentation, negotiation, communication, and executive briefing capabilities.
• Ability to communicate successfully across both technical and non-technical organizations.
• Active U.S. Secret security clearance required; Top Secret/SCI clearance is strongly preferred, or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
• Experience in supporting SOF communications, tactical SATCOM, resilient networking, expeditionary communications, ISR, edge computing, space systems, PNT, or managed communications services is preferred.
• Familiarity with SOF communications architectures, TAK ecosystems, mesh networking, multi-domain operations, cloud-enabled mission systems, and space-enabled operational capabilities is preferred.
• Prior military service within the Special Operations community or experience supporting USSOCOM acquisition organizations is highly desirable.
• Established relationships within USSOCOM, SOF AT&L, PEO SOF Digital Applications, PEO SOF Warrior, Component Commands, TSOCs, DIU, DARPA, or other defense innovation organizations are preferred.
• An MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.
