This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +2 more countries.
• Lead and mentor a team of data scientists, offering technical guidance, career development, and performance management.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to refine and establish priorities, identify risks and gaps, support staffing and budget planning, and communicate key milestones to business leaders.
• Strategically plan and prioritize team roadmaps, balancing research innovation with the delivery of production ML systems.
• Keep abreast of emerging trends in machine learning and cybersecurity, assessing new technologies for potential integration.
• Work in partnership with security research, engineering, product, and other cross-functional teams to align ML capabilities with business goals.
• Collaborate with security domain experts to pinpoint high-impact opportunities where ML can improve threat detection and response.
• Articulate complex technical concepts and ML insights to stakeholders throughout the organization.
• Oversee the development of advanced models for malware detection, behavioral threat analysis, and AI-driven security automation.
• Propel research initiatives that lead to publications, blog posts, patents, and other contributions to the ML and security communities.
• Engage in hands-on technical work as necessary, maintaining deep expertise in ML systems and security applications.
• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related STEM field, OR a Bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in data science and machine learning.
• 5+ years in a technical leadership or team lead role.
• Demonstrated success in leading ML projects from research through to production deployment.
• Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Capacity to present and engage with senior stakeholders in a business context, communicate risks and opportunities, and translate business challenges into technical objectives.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, adept at managing multiple projects and distilling key details for regular program management.
• Proven experience leveraging AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency, and drive business results.
• Extensive expertise in cybersecurity, including experience with threat intelligence, malware analysis, or security operations.
• Experience with agentic AI systems, LLMs, or autonomous security automation.
• Proven track record of working with very large, sparse, high-dimensional datasets in production environments.
• Familiarity with advanced ML techniques including semi-supervised learning, online learning, and model optimization for reducing false positives.
• Strong knowledge of ML operations, encompassing model monitoring, A/B testing, and production ML infrastructure.
• Comfortable operating in cloud environments (AWS) and Linux systems.
• Proven capability to set a technical vision and drive innovation in ML systems.
• Experience in hiring, building, and scaling high-performing data science teams.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to balance research exploration with practical business outcomes.
• Published research, patents, or contributions to the ML or security communities.
