Senior Manager, Computer Vision

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Lead and expand a diverse software engineering team encompassing cloud, edge, front end, and machine learning disciplines.

• Take ownership of delivery commitments, which include scope, sequence, predictability, risks, and trade-offs.

• Steer architectural direction across subsystems and mediate decisions among teams.

• Manage the second-level technical escalation process for customer-related issues and incorporate insights back into the product.

• Collaborate with product management on defining the roadmap, detailing features, and preparing release content.

• Establish engineering practice standards, including review gates, quality benchmarks, AI-assisted change evaluation coverage, and throughput metrics.

• Recruit, develop, and retain engineering talent while building a strong technical leadership pipeline.

• Direct the development of machine vision and visual inspection capabilities across cloud services, edge runtime, front end, and machine learning.

• Take responsibility for roadmap commitments related to the Automation Control Software portfolio.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant work experience is required.

• Legal authorization to work in the US is mandatory.

• Typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience in a software product development environment, including leadership of engineering teams.

• A Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.

• Proven experience in leading software engineering teams that deliver and support commercial products.

• Experience in making technical architecture decisions across multiple subsystems.

• Background as a hands-on engineer prior to transitioning into leadership, maintaining technical expertise.

• Familiarity with both cloud services and edge or embedded software within the same product.

• Experience managing a customer escalation process and prioritizing engineering responses to field issues.

• A strong record of establishing engineering practices, including review standards, release quality gates, and developer tooling.

• Knowledge of industrial automation, machine vision, or similar fields where defects can have real-world consequences.
