Senior Manager, Build Operations

📋 Description

• Oversee the Build Operations function for the engineering and product teams at Zapier.

• Provide insights, enhance delivery speed, and minimize operational inefficiencies.

• Restore execution capabilities on high-priority workstreams that are hindering Finance and Build leadership.

• Establish the operational framework necessary to carry out the Build strategy and prioritized initiatives.

• Create and promote Build’s operating model and extend it to the go-to-market teams.

• Develop, manage, and expand a connected visibility layer that displays shipping statuses, overlapping tasks, and ownership risks.

• Handle dependency and basic ownership routing to ensure cross-team requirements are directed to the appropriate accountable parties.

• Foster adoption through training, feedback mechanisms, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Collaborate with Build and GTM leadership to pinpoint adoption gaps, eliminate obstacles, and secure necessary resources.

• Cultivate strong relationships with senior Build leaders.

• Acquire headcount, stabilize the team, and support essential platforms.

• Lead a team of four, which includes an L4 TPM, two operations individual contributors, and a contractor.

• Document operational decisions and trade-offs, and draft proposals for alignment and resource allocation with senior management.

• Identify and integrate AI-driven tools and workflows to boost efficiency and lessen manual workload.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience as the operational backbone of an engineering or product organization.

• Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional programs that involve multiple teams or organizations.

• Capability to translate technical or engineering concepts into comprehensible language and frameworks for non-technical audiences.

• Strong foundation in project and program management, including project plans, milestones, dependency tracking, risk management, and change documentation.

• Proficiency in influencing various functions and driving consensus without relying solely on authority.

• Comfort with ambiguity and rapid change.

• Experience in obtaining senior stakeholder support and resources for under-scoped programs.

• Familiarity with modern operational tools and a willingness to learn new systems.

• Experience in integrating AI into team workflows and processes.
