This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Idaho.
• Develop and implement projects and collaborations with the USDA Forest Service in Idaho.
• Collaborate with the Region Director to enhance regional reforestation initiatives and partnerships on National Forest Service lands.
• Manage reforestation and forest resilience partnerships, including organizing partner meetings, reporting, and budgeting.
• Promote new forest restoration projects, strategies, partnerships, and agreements.
• Oversee the implementation of reforestation efforts, including planning, unit layout, contract management, field execution, quality assurance, and monitoring.
• Coordinate the collection and analysis of field data as well as adaptive management actions.
• Manage field and safety logistics, coordinating protocols, templates, and best practices.
• Stay informed about advancements in silviculture, reforestation, forestry, and natural resource management.
• Cultivate and sustain relationships with agencies and regional stakeholders.
• Coordinate work plans and standards for the USDA Forest Service and its partners.
• Supervise both seasonal and full-time staff, including managing timesheets, approving leave, and conducting performance evaluations.
• Lead the recruitment, hiring, and training processes as required.
• Provide on-site supervisory support for staff and field crews.
• Manage grants and agreements, including budgets, invoices, payment requests, match documentation, and modifications.
• Assist in managing contractor relationships and oversight.
• Help organize meetings, conferences, and events.
• Conduct public presentations and lead site visits and field tours.
• Report to the Director of the Northern Rockies and supervise or support up to five direct reports.
• Bachelor’s degree in forestry or natural resources with a minimum of three (3) years of experience; or a Master’s degree in forestry or natural resources with at least two (2) years of experience.
• Experience in field forestry and/or reforestation.
• Proven experience in planning and executing forest management actions on federal lands.
• Experience in conducting fieldwork and implementing field-oriented projects.
• Background in supervising teams, ideally in field-based and remote settings.
• Proficient knowledge and experience in project and partnership management.
• Preferred experience with USDA Forest Service projects or partnerships.
• Strong organizational, project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Possession of a state forestry license and/or Society of American Foresters Certified Forester certification is preferred.
• Current First Aid certification or willingness to obtain sponsorship for certification.
• Familiarity with GPS and GIS, including AGOL, Field Maps, and Survey123 for mapping and geospatial data analysis.
• Preferred experience in contract oversight and administration.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Ability to travel frequently to work sites.
• Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
