This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver exceptional software support and services to Ensono's mainframe clients concerning Mainframe IMS systems.
• Address customer service requests from mainframe z/OS clients related to IMS and associated OEM software products.
• Serve as the primary support contact for issues reported regarding IMS and related OEM software products.
• Provide support around the clock, 24 x 7 x 365, across various time zones.
• Efficiently install OEM software products following best practices and Ensono's standards.
• Assist in customer migration services for IMS and related OEM software products.
• Collaborate with project managers to facilitate newly acquired customer migrations and overcome technical challenges.
• Execute tasks related to customer disaster recovery plans in partnership with Disaster Recovery Services.
• Manage schedules and resources to ensure timely implementation.
• Adhere to ITSM change control protocols.
• Review new IMS versions and provide clients with insights on their advantages.
• Consult with vendors regarding issues and inquiries.
• Conduct disaster recovery of application objects.
• Utilize IMS commands relevant to ACB and FORMAT modifications.
• Code and employ IMS reorganization utilities, including those from IBM, BMC, and CA tools.
• Identify and resolve performance-related issues.
• Perform online tracing utilizing IMS TRACE commands and related utilities.
• Install software using SMP/E.
• Extract data from IMS logs.
• Monitor database activity through DBRC.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required, or equivalent work experience.
• Over 10 years of professional experience in IMS, focusing on administration and systems programming support.
• Familiarity with best practices in software management, maintenance, and documentation.
• Capability to configure and manage IMS in a parallel sysplex environment.
• Skill in developing innovations, strategies, processes, and best practices in IMS systems programming.
• Proven experience in troubleshooting and resolving IMS system, database, and production database issues.
• Experience in evaluating change requests and assessing their impact on assigned clients.
• Strong proficiency in JCL.
• Experience in database administration.
• Knowledge of IMS database organization utilizing VSAM and OSAM access methods.
• Understanding of HSAM, HISAM, SHISAM, HDAM, HIDAM, INDEX, and GSAM database organization types.
• Awareness of logical databases such as HALDB, PHDAM, PHIDAM, ILDS, and PSINDEX.
• Familiarity with Fast Path databases (DEDBs).
• Knowledge of database design and associated utilities.
• Experience with DBD source coding and DBDGEN.
• Experience with PSB source coding and PSBGEN.
• Understanding of secondary indexes, PROCSEQ=, PROCOPT=, path calls, bi-directional logical relationships, and Data Set Groups.
• Familiarity with CA and IBM tools for IMS is a plus.
