This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Upgrade, administer, and optimize mainframe database software for clients' Software AG ADABAS environments.
• Collaborate with vendor representatives to swiftly resolve database issues.
• Conduct daily database maintenance tasks, including changes to database definitions, backups, restores, space-growth monitoring, and reorganizations.
• Develop and uphold disaster recovery protocols.
• Address customer requirements and inquiries.
• Execute database optimization, performance assessments, and tuning activities.
• Assist with the onboarding of new clients.
• Provide 24/7 on-call support as part of a scheduled team rotation.
• Keep documentation updated for all completed tasks.
• Comply with change management procedures.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required, along with equivalent work experience.
• Over 10 years of professional experience working with Software AG ADABAS/Natural and related administration and systems programming products.
• Comprehensive experience in software management, maintenance, and documentation.
• Proficient in configuring and managing Software AG ADABAS and associated products like Natural.
• Expertise in ADABAS database administration, NATURAL Security, and Fast Path.
• Experience in database design, FDTs, DDMs, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with ADABAS utilities such as Delta Save Facility, ADABAS Utilities, Natural utilities, SMA, Program Migration tool, and Review.
• Knowledge of log archiving and change accumulation utilities.
• Understanding of ADARUN parameters and buffer pools.
• Knowledge of protection logging and command logging.
• Experience in establishing database management, disaster recovery, product and database security, maintenance, and utilization policies and practices.
• Experience reviewing new releases of Software AG ADABAS and related products.
• Proven capability in managing vendor relationships and resolving inquiries and issues.
• Experience in applying licenses, ZAPs, and service packs for Software AG products.
• Competence in supporting disaster recovery and emergency database recovery operations.
• Expertise in troubleshooting production database concerns and addressing performance challenges.
• Proficient in database administration and customization of ADABAS/Natural.
• Experience with batch and online Software AG ADABAS/Natural operations.
• Skilled in monitoring database space and performance.
• Experience in large, 24/7 multi-database settings with the ability to manage conflicting priorities.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication abilities.
• Capability to work collaboratively in a team or independently.
• Ability to respond promptly and effectively to support requests from various clients.
• Proficient in following ITSM change control protocols.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under tight deadlines in high-pressure environments.
