This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Foster trusted relationships with both current and prospective member-borrowers of the Housing Partnership Network.
• Create and implement outreach strategies while monitoring activities in Salesforce.
• Enhance existing partnerships and broaden HPN’s lending footprint.
• Represent HPN at member conferences, Strength Matters, site visits, and various events.
• Manage CRM activities for the team and collaborate with outreach professionals.
• Perform initial underwriting for commercial real estate transactions related to affordable housing.
• Advise on transaction terms and credit structures to the Director of Lending.
• Conduct financial analysis, due diligence, feasibility evaluations, and early risk assessments for borrowers/projects.
• Prepare and finalize term sheets.
• Identify deal structures that optimize financial returns and enhance mission impact.
• Provide clients with formal checklists for underwriting preparation.
• Facilitate transitions to underwriters following the term-sheet phase.
• Assist in updating loan policies and enhancing credit memorandum templates.
• Deliver lending updates for the website, marketing materials, and communications.
• Aid in portfolio management and workout issues alongside Asset Management.
• Support investor applications and conduct member surveys.
• Bachelor’s degree in a pertinent field such as business, finance, real estate, urban planning, or business development is required.
• Two to eight years of experience in commercial real estate lending with a focus on affordable housing.
• Background in roles such as business development officer, credit underwriter, or loan officer.
• Experience ideally with a CDFI or a similar organization.
• Ability to maintain borrower relationships with a customer-focused approach.
• Established lending record, demonstrating achievement of production goals and disciplined application of sales tools.
• Proficient in credit analysis and preparing term sheets for underwriting purposes.
• Strong capabilities in sales and business development.
• Excellent financial analysis skills, particularly in assessing nonprofit developers and the feasibility of real estate development.
• Familiarity with public and private capital sources that support affordable housing initiatives.
• Competence in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Solid working knowledge of Salesforce.
