Senior Linux System Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +16 more states.

📋 Description

• Administer, maintain, and enhance enterprise RHEL environments within on-premises and AWS GovCloud infrastructures.

• Operate and troubleshoot high-availability architectures, including Red Hat Pacemaker/Corosync clusters and load-balanced services.

• Lead patch management, system hardening, STIG/ACAS compliance, and vulnerability remediation across production fleets.

• Support ASIC software delivery workflows, including web-based deployment of software updates to deployed Army units.

• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code and configuration management utilizing Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.

• Create and maintain Bash and Python automation scripts for operational tasks, monitoring, and reporting.

• Collaborate with security, network, and application teams on ATO and Continuous Authorization activities.

• Mentor junior administrators, lead troubleshooting sessions, and contribute to architectural and lifecycle decisions.

• Provide Linux Engineering Sustainment support for the U.S. Army CECOM mission and ASIC.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum Secret security clearance required; the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI is strongly preferred.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field preferred; four additional years of equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

• At least 5 years of hands-on Linux system administration experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a senior-level or technical lead role.

• Experience supporting mission-critical Linux environments in a DoD or federal context.

• Proficient in administering and troubleshooting RHEL in both on-premise data centers and cloud environments.

• Active Secret security clearance or higher is required.

• DoD 8570/8140 compliant baseline certification, Security+ CE or higher, is required at hire or within 6 months.

• Expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration; RHEL 8 is required and RHEL 9 is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with RHEL workloads in AWS GovCloud, including EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, and EBS.

• Strong skills in Bash and Python scripting and automation, with PowerShell experience being a plus.

• Hands-on experience with Ansible or equivalent configuration management tools.

• Working knowledge of CI/CD tooling and Git-based source control workflows.

• Experience with system hardening, STIG application, ACAS scanning, and vulnerability remediation in DoD environments.

• Understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, LDAP/Active Directory integration, PKI, and SSH key management.

• Linux-focused certification such as RHCSA, RHCE, or CompTIA Linux+ is preferred.

• Knowledge of software assurance, relevant STIGs, DoD RMF processes, and Continuous Authorization/cATO activities.

• Must be U.S. based and available to work Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm EST.
