Linux Systems Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Administer and uphold Red Hat servers through patch management, updates, upgrades, and performance optimization.

• Provide after-hours on-call assistance and address system incidents and alerts.

• Implement and oversee infrastructure modifications, ensuring thorough documentation, testing, and execution.

• Conduct server security hardening, vulnerability assessments, and respond to security incidents.

• Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability metrics.

• Collaborate effectively with network, database, application, and other IT teams.

• Engage in disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testing activities.

• Automate system administration tasks utilizing Python, Ansible, Bash, and relevant scripting technologies.

• Develop and maintain system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting documentation.

• Stay informed about current server administration, security, and operational technologies.

• Support Bell Canada infrastructure as part of a global IT team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in Server Administration with a focus on Red Hat Server platforms.

• At least 3 years of experience with virtualization technologies, including VMware vSphere, VMware vCenter, and Red Hat OpenStack.

• A minimum of 3 years of practical experience with scripting languages and automation tools, such as PowerShell and Python.

• Strong grasp of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols.

• Capability to administer, maintain, troubleshoot, patch, upgrade, secure, and optimize Red Hat server environments.

• Proficiency in using Python, Ansible, Bash, PowerShell, and relevant automation technologies.

• Ability to manage and support VMware vSphere, VMware vCenter, and Red Hat OpenStack platforms.

• Experience in applying server hardening, vulnerability assessment, patch management, security incident response, and compliance practices.

• Must be flexible to work morning, mid, or night shifts as required.

• Preferred: Experience in supporting a 24/7 operational environment.

• Preferred: Experience in managing RHEL and other Linux distributions.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform and Red Hat Satellite.

• Preferred: Certifications in Red Hat, OpenStack, VMware, or ITIL.
