Senior Liability Trial Attorney

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Advocate for clients of a commercial insurance provider in moderate to high-exposure General Liability and Commercial Auto cases.

• Manage and litigate cases from a diverse and challenging workload.

• Practice law in adherence to Federal Court regulations and the ethical standards of the Colorado State Bar.

• Conduct initial investigations, perform legal analysis, and offer legal counsel.

• Assess damages effectively.

• Draft and submit legal pleadings and necessary documents.

• Execute legal research.

• Prepare for and facilitate pre-trial discovery.

• Organize and manage hearings and trials.

• Carry out post-trial activities as necessary.

• Oversee insurance defense matters throughout all litigation phases.

• Guide and mentor junior attorneys.

• Provide leadership and training throughout the organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience in litigation.

• Active member in good standing of the Colorado State Bar.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe software.

• Familiarity with Lexis or Westlaw is required.

• Understanding of the insurance sector, claims processes, and the legal landscape surrounding insurance defense litigation.

• Experience managing insurance industry claims and general commercial litigation, including wrongful death, commercial motor vehicle torts, product liability, premises liability, and personal injury, from inception to trial.

• Strong analytical skills for case evaluation.

• Proven settlement negotiation and trial abilities.

• Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Ability to mentor junior attorneys while providing leadership and training.

• Relevant experience as a first chair in jury trials.

• Skills in budgeting costs and estimating exposure for clients.

• Understanding of billable hours and diary management with a solid grasp of substantive and procedural legal principles.

• Extensive knowledge of legal laws and procedures.

• Previous experience in an insurance defense setting.

• Strong negotiation capabilities.

• Proficient with PC technology.
