This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Conduct research on policy matters and create memos or issue briefs.
β’ Evaluate state and federal legislation or regulations.
β’ Provide support with administrative tasks.
β’ Draft correspondence and engage with supporters, coalition partners, and public officials.
β’ Participate in virtual public hearings, coalition calls, stakeholder meetings, lobby days, lobby 101s, conferences, and various other events.
β’ Work alongside the Communications team and other departments to write, proofread, edit, and refresh campaign website content, email action alerts, and phone banking scripts.
β’ Collaborate with other programs on cases linked to legislative campaigns.
β’ Create and present virtual presentations for advocacy training sessions, conferences, and fundraising events.
β’ Support the Legislative Affairs Program in formulating and executing legislative resources and strategies.
β’ Engage in scheduled networking and outreach activities.
β’ Must be a current 2L (or part-time program equivalent) or LLM student at an ABA accredited law school.
β’ Must be eligible to work in the United States.
β’ Genuine interest in animal protection is essential.
β’ Exceptional legal research and writing abilities, with the capacity to adapt voice and style for diverse audiences.
β’ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
β’ Capability to collaborate effectively in a mission-driven, team-focused environment.
β’ Openness to undertake a range of assignments within animal law.
β’ Outstanding organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
β’ Ability to work independently and remotely.
β’ Must handle confidential and sensitive aspects of the work with discretion.
β’ Access to a computer with internet and Microsoft Suite is required.
β’ Prior knowledge of animal law and legislation is preferred.
β’ Application requires a resume, cover letter, 2β3 professional references, law school transcript, and an original writing sample.
β’ A personal United States address is necessary; work must primarily be conducted from this address.
