This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Serve as the main legal advisor for APAC sales teams regarding the negotiation of Terms of Service, contract redlining, and the review of commercial agreements.
• Lead negotiations in real-time with customers and their legal representatives on strategic and enterprise-level deals, including customer-specific documents and high-value Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) matters.
• Act as the Legal Primary Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for the APAC region under Remote's Legal Matter Framework.
• Provide supplementary legal assistance to other regions as time allows.
• Collaborate with Sales, Finance, and other cross-functional teams on commercial agreements.
• Create and enhance templates, playbooks, processes, knowledge resources, automated triage, and self-service tools.
• Offer legal training and advice to internal stakeholders, particularly APAC sales teams.
• Work alongside the Data Protection and AI Governance team on matters related to privacy and AI terms.
• Liaise with local counsel to obtain jurisdiction-specific legal advice.
• Maintain a solutions-oriented approach during negotiations to reduce unnecessary escalations.
• Report directly to the Director of Legal - Commercial.
• Function as an individual contributor without managerial responsibilities.
• Demonstrated expertise in supporting commercial transactions, particularly enterprise-level SaaS agreements, negotiations of Terms of Service, and reviews of sales contracts.
• Experience in providing support to sales teams throughout the APAC region is highly regarded.
• Must be qualified to practice in an APAC jurisdiction.
• English serves as the working language for negotiations and internal collaboration.
• Proficiency in additional APAC languages is a significant advantage, though not mandatory.
• Comfort in navigating multiple APAC jurisdictions and legal frameworks.
• Excellent commercial drafting capabilities.
• Strong negotiation abilities.
• Familiarity with enterprise deals conducted on customer-provided documents, including customer Master Service Agreements (MSAs), customized terms, and formal RFx procedures.
• Keen commercial instincts and strategic thought processes.
• Previous experience in the HR-tech industry or with customized HR services agreements is beneficial but not essential.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while remaining responsive and adaptable under pressure.
• Capacity to work independently while also collaborating with sales and cross-functional teams.
• Skill in building trusted relationships with sales stakeholders while exercising independent legal judgment.
• Comfortable working with automated triage and legal technology.
• Interest in enhancing automated triage and legal tools.
• A good sense of humor and a humble attitude.
