Senior Counsel, Corporate – Risk

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as a vital strategic partner to the Procurement, Finance, Customer Experience, and Communications departments.

• Manage third-party and vendor contracts.

• Develop and oversee the initial contract review process.

• Serve as the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for contract escalations and exceptions.

• Handle a range of disputes and escalated requests, encompassing patient cost disagreements, elevated provider issues, administrative and regulatory inquiries, as well as document and records requests.

• Collaborate with Customer Experience and Communications teams to address escalated issues.

• Oversee Headway’s annual corporate insurance cycle and continuous insurance management.

• Address other corporate and risk-related matters in a rapidly growing startup environment.

• Report directly to the Associate General Counsel, Commercial and Corporate.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, including at least 2 years in an in-house role.

• Experience in a dynamic, high-growth startup environment; healthcare experience is preferred.

• Proven hands-on management of complex processes such as commercial contracting at scale.

• Strong judgment to assess risk and make trade-offs effectively while maintaining fidelity and speed.

• High emotional intelligence with the capability to foster relationships and consensus amidst competing priorities.

• Genuine enthusiasm for working with AI tools and enhancing or reinventing existing systems.

• Ability to simplify complex subjects into clear, actionable guidance for non-legal stakeholders.

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

• Active bar membership in good standing.

• Required to register as NY in-house counsel.

• Authorization to work in the United States for any employer.
