Senior Java Developer, Java J2EE

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Staff and Senior Engineers to innovate and develop new systems

• Enhance and improve existing systems

• Identify opportunities to utilize technical expertise in addressing critical issues

• Lead the strategy and implementation of a technical roadmap to boost product delivery speed and enhance engineering capabilities

• Provide technical guidance and thought leadership across various sectors of the enterprise

• Work in partnership with product managers, team members, customers, and engineering teams to tackle complex challenges

• Develop and implement a technical software development strategy across diverse domains

• Ensure the quality, usability, and performance of solutions

• Utilize Java, Python, or other object-oriented programming languages, along with SQL, NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure tools and services

• Mentor and coach the engineering and product communities

• Influence and educate executives on technical matters

• Share best practices and enhance processes across teams

• Analyze costs and prepare financial forecasts for business plans

• Determine and support resource needs

• Evaluate operational processes and measure outcomes

• Promote continuous learning and demonstrate adaptability

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of professional software development experience within a Java framework, particularly Spring

• More than 8 years of experience in architecture and design

• At least 6 years of experience with open-source frameworks

• A minimum of 4 years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or other cloud services

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience

• Ability to design, conduct experiments, and influence engineering direction and product roadmap

• Experience in collaborating with engineering teams and transitioning research to production

• Proficient in effectively utilizing Cursor AI

• Proven track record of publications in reputable conferences and journals

• Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code practices

• Comprehensive understanding of computer science data structures and algorithms

• Proven ability to solve analytical problems using quantitative methods

• Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment

• Knowledge of developer tools throughout the software development life cycle

• Fluency and specialization in at least two modern programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or C#, including proficiency in object-oriented design

• Experience with microservices-oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs

• Experience in building architecture and design for both new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scalability

• Proficiency in DevOps concepts, cloud architecture, and Azure DevOps Operational Framework

• Experience utilizing PowerShell scripting

• Familiarity with operational portals such as Azure Portal

• Experience with application monitoring tools and performance evaluations

• In-depth understanding of datacenter structure, capabilities, and offerings, including the Azure platform and its native services

• Knowledge of security protocols and products, including Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, and OAuth

• Experience with Azure Network, including subscriptions and security zoning
