This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.
• Execute copy-editing tasks for designated projects or accounts.
• Conduct translation tasks as needed.
• Assume the role of lead linguist for assigned accounts.
• Oversee deliveries translated internally or by external partners into the target language.
• Prepare, manage, and sustain language resources, including glossaries, Style Guides, and work instructions.
• Handle project-related inquiries.
• Address terminology and language-related questions.
• Collaborate with freelancers, agencies, and in-house linguists.
• Evaluate and qualify new freelancers and vendors.
• Develop and train internal linguists as well as new and existing freelancers.
• Communicate with clients regarding linguistic issues.
• Engage in the development of enhanced working processes and suggest improvements.
• Meet or surpass productivity, on-time delivery, and quality KPIs.
• Accomplish objectives set by the team manager.
• A university degree in Translation, Applied Languages, Linguistic Studies, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (such as a university degree in another field plus 2 years of full-time translation experience; OR 5 years of full-time professional translation experience).
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• Native proficiency in the TARGET language.
• Over 8 years of relevant experience in translation, localization, editing, or content writing.
• More than 5 years of experience in review processes.
• Comprehensive understanding of the localization process.
• Strong knowledge of terminology across various subject matters.
• Act as a subject-matter expert within the company for designated content specialties, service lines, and processes.
• Proficient in standard CAT tools, such as XTM and SDL Studio, as well as issue tracking and query management tools like JIRA.
• Quick learner of new localization tools and applications.
• Proficient in standard software, including Windows and Office applications.
• Capable of providing clear, concise, and constructive feedback.
• Competent in coordinating both internal and external translators.
• Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness and capability to train and share knowledge with others.
• Ability to operate under tight deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Capable of effectively presenting information and addressing questions from groups of managers, clients, and linguists.
• Experience and willingness to communicate with customers at various levels.
• Ability to tackle practical problems and manage a range of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
