Senior IT Architect – Windows Server, Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the enterprise architecture for Windows Server and related infrastructure platforms.

• Establish and uphold technology roadmaps for server, identity, virtualization, backup, and datacenter infrastructure services.

• Create architecture standards, reference designs, and governance guidelines.

• Assess emerging technologies and suggest opportunities for modernization.

• Lead initiatives for infrastructure standardization, consolidation, and simplification.

• Ensure alignment of infrastructure architecture with cybersecurity requirements and enterprise architecture principles.

• Define architectural and technical standards for Windows Server, identity federation, SSO, DNS, DHCP, SQL Server, Veeam backup, disaster recovery, file and print services, virtualization, datacenter hosting, and monitoring platforms.

• Review and authorize infrastructure solution designs.

• Serve as the design authority for strategic projects and infrastructure modifications.

• Guarantee that outsourced services adhere to architecture standards and best practices.

• Manage technical escalations and architectural risks.

• Participate in architecture review boards and governance forums.

• Assist in critical incident and problem management when architectural expertise is necessary.

• Maintain architecture documentation, standards, and records of technical decisions.

• Develop and oversee technical reference architectures and implementation guidelines.

• Identify opportunities for cost optimization and initiatives for reducing technical debt.

• Propel continuous improvement and operational excellence across infrastructure services.

• Collaborate with and guide the managed service partner implementing outsourced IT operations.

• Convert business requirements into scalable, resilient, and secure technology solutions that facilitate digital transformation and hybrid cloud strategies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in infrastructure architecture, enterprise architecture, or senior infrastructure engineering positions.

• Proven experience in designing and operating enterprise-scale hybrid infrastructure environments.

• Background in global organizations with intricate IT landscapes.

• Experience in managing and governing outsourced infrastructure services.

• Demonstrated success in delivering infrastructure transformation and modernization projects.

• Extensive knowledge of hybrid cloud architecture, infrastructure security, and hardening practices.

• Strong understanding of virtualization technologies, including VxRail hypervisor and VMware.

• Proficient in automation and scripting, particularly PowerShell.

• Familiarity with high availability and fault-tolerant design principles.

• Understanding of ITIL processes and enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF.

• Strategic thinker with a strong sense of ownership.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to balance business requirements, risk, cost, and technological considerations.

• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.

• Results-driven with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
