Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer – Nuclear

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate within a project team alongside engineers and designers focused on the design, modification, and analysis of instrumentation and control systems.

• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to electrical controls engineering.

• Create designs for digital systems that incorporate PLCs, DCS, touchscreens, network switches, and control systems.

• Prepare functional requirements and procurement specifications pertaining to control systems.

• Design mechatronic and control systems for pumps, valves, heat exchangers, steam turbines, and reactors.

• Conduct thorough digital asset cyber assessments and reviews.

• Participate in client meetings and site visits to confirm project scope and ensure client satisfaction.

• Support the project manager/director in ensuring projects are completed successfully, on schedule, and within budget.

• Execute and review scaling, uncertainty, and setpoint calculations for both digital and analog control applications.

• Liaise with vendors for document evaluations and equipment purchasing specifications.

• Generate clear and concise technical reports and studies.

• Independently assess the design documentation, specifications, calculations, and drawings produced by others.

• Engage in professional Communities of Practice.

• Provide mentorship to junior engineers.

• Champion the use of automation and AI tools to enhance engineering workflows, minimize rework, and deliver cost-effective designs.

• Supervise automation and scripting tasks, and evaluate the outputs generated through automation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited institution.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Design Engineering.

• Experience in design engineering for control systems in nuclear power plants.

• Proficiency in selecting equipment, developing control philosophies, and preparing and assembling design packages, calculations, and specifications.

• Familiarity with control system design for turbines, pumps, feedwater controls, and data displays.

• Experience acting as the firm's client liaison in a supporting or leadership engineering role.

• Background in reviewing design documentation.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.

• Must not require sponsorship for U.S. work authorization.
