Senior Infrastructure Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Shape the architecture and future development of Voxel51’s infrastructure for deployments that cater to both individual researchers and Fortune 500 companies.

• Design, construct, and scale deployment systems across GCP, AWS, Azure, and on-premises settings.

• Collaborate with enterprise clients and Customer Success Machine Learning Engineers on production-grade deployments, installation, troubleshooting, and scaling.

• Lead infrastructure projects across engineering teams by utilizing internal tools and automation.

• Promote CI/CD best practices and enhance GitHub Actions and Google Cloud Build pipelines.

• Create and maintain deployment solutions for Voxel51-hosted GKE environments as well as customer on-premises Kubernetes or Docker Compose setups.

• Enhance developer workflows and automate cloud deployments.

• Troubleshoot build failures, runtime issues, and customer deployment obstacles.

• Design monitoring, alerting, and predictive solutions to foresee and mitigate failures.

• Mentor engineers and establish technical direction for infrastructure reliability, security, and scalability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience with containerized environments.

• Proficient in building, packaging, and debugging container images.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker Compose for orchestration.

• Experience in building, maintaining, and deploying Helm charts.

• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent).

• Strong scripting and automation skills (Bash or similar).

• Proficient in Python, including build and environment management, packaging/distribution, release management, and dependency debugging.

• Experience with CI/CD systems, preferably GitHub Actions.

• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, particularly GCP, including IAM, VPC, load balancing, ingress/egress routing, proxies, and firewall rules.

• Understanding of database fundamentals, ideally MongoDB or similar NoSQL systems.

• Skills in observability, including monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting.

• Knowledge of security best practices, including certificates, service accounts, least privilege, and role assumptions.

• Ability to troubleshoot across complex, distributed systems.

• A testing mindset with the capability to design and implement various types of tests.

• Strong communication skills for engaging with enterprise clients and remote teams.

• Adaptability and a sense of curiosity.

• Must reside in the United States.

• Willingness to travel for at least 2 in-person retreats annually.
