Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and implement the SEC's enterprise infrastructure and operations automation capabilities utilizing the Ansible Automation Platform and Ansible.

• Create reusable AAP organizations, projects, inventories, credentials, execution environments, job templates, workflows, RBAC, and operational standards.

• Develop and maintain reusable Ansible roles, playbooks, collections, and workflows for infrastructure configuration, software deployment, agent deployment, upgrades, patching, and operational procedures.

• Integrate GitHub Enterprise with AAP for governed and auditable Git-based source control, review, testing, and promotion.

• Connect AAP with CyberArk or other approved secrets-management solutions.

• Design and implement API-driven and event-driven automation with systems such as Datadog, ServiceNow, and other enterprise tools.

• Create automation for Datadog onboarding, agent deployment, configuration, tagging, upgrades, and observability tasks.

• Develop authorized, secure, and auditable automated-remediation workflows, including rollback considerations.

• Provide automation support across Windows, Linux/Unix, OpenShift/Kubernetes, virtualization, storage, networking, and other infrastructure domains.

• Collaborate with the OpenShift/Kubernetes GitOps and CI/CD engineer to create integrated automation and application-delivery workflows.

• Establish standards for development, testing, approval, and production execution.

• Identify automation opportunities and engineer reusable solutions that minimize repetitive tasks and operational toil.

• Develop and validate automation in lower environments, testing failure scenarios and rollback behaviors.

• Document architecture, standards, integrations, runbooks, usage guidance, and support procedures.

• Work collaboratively with engineering teams to build a cohesive enterprise automation capability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Typically requires a BS degree with 8-12 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 6-10 years of relevant experience.

• Additional relevant experience may be accepted in place of degree requirements if permitted by contract.

• Strong hands-on experience in designing and implementing enterprise infrastructure, configuration management, or operations automation.

• Substantial experience with Ansible and/or Ansible Automation Platform in production environments.

• Proven expertise in designing reusable automation, including roles, playbooks, collections, inventories, credentials, execution environments, jobs, and workflows.

• Familiarity with Git-based workflows for developing, reviewing, testing, and promoting automation content.

• Experience in integrating automation platforms with APIs, webhooks, ITSM systems, secrets-management solutions, or monitoring/observability platforms.

• Experience in administering or engineering automation controls such as RBAC, service accounts, credentials, execution environments, and audit logging.

• Production experience in automating Windows and Linux/Unix infrastructure, along with at least one of Kubernetes/OpenShift, virtualization, cloud, storage, or network platforms.

• Strong scripting and programming skills in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages for automation and API integration.

• Excellent troubleshooting, systems integration, and technical problem-solving abilities across infrastructure and enterprise platforms.

• Capability to architect solutions, evaluate alternatives, document technical decisions, and communicate recommendations to technical teams and customer stakeholders.

• Must fulfill applicable contract citizenship and work authorization requirements and be eligible to obtain and maintain SEC Public Trust or other necessary clearance.

• Preferred: Direct experience in designing or administering Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform at an enterprise level.

• Preferred: Familiarity with AAP organizations, execution environments, workflows, inventories, service accounts, credential management, RBAC, and API-driven execution.

• Preferred: Experience integrating AAP/Ansible with CyberArk, ServiceNow, Datadog, GitHub, or similar enterprise systems.

• Preferred: Experience with event-driven automation and automated remediation triggered by monitoring/observability platforms.

• Preferred: Experience supporting OpenShift/Kubernetes infrastructure and container platforms.

• Preferred: Experience with GitOps/CI/CD platforms and an understanding of how infrastructure automation enhances application delivery pipelines.

• Preferred: Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Terraform or comparable tools.

• Preferred: Experience building automation platforms and standards from the ground up.

• Preferred: Experience in federal environments regulated by FISMA, NIST, FedRAMP, or other similar security requirements.

• Preferred: Relevant certifications in Ansible, Red Hat, Kubernetes, cloud, automation, or related fields.
