Senior DevOps Engineer, Containers & Private Cloud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Plan, construct, and consistently improve Proxmox-based private cloud environments.

• Transition existing VMware and other virtualization setups to Proxmox.

• Develop and manage Kubernetes platforms, especially utilizing Rancher and RKE2.

• Create highly available infrastructure and storage solutions, such as Ceph.

• Automate infrastructure processes using Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD practices.

• Provide guidance to customers on private cloud, hybrid cloud, and contemporary infrastructure solutions.

• Evaluate current environments and devise appropriate target architectures.

• Assist in technical workshops, migrations, and proof of concept projects.

• Document architectural designs and technical decisions made.

• Assume accountability for architectural choices, technical standards, or team development based on experience.

• Engage collaboratively with customers and the engineering team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience with Proxmox VE.

• Strong skills in Linux.

• Solid foundational understanding of virtualization, networking, and storage systems.

• Basic knowledge of containers and containerized applications.

• Comprehensive general IT infrastructure knowledge.

• Self-sufficient and organized approach to tasks.

• Enthusiasm for collaboratively addressing technical challenges with customers.

• Proficient in German and competent in English.

• Eagerness and capacity to learn and gain expertise in Kubernetes, Rancher, RKE2, Ceph, Terraform, Ansible, Azure, AWS, VMware-to-Proxmox migrations, highly available private cloud architectures, backup and disaster recovery strategies, network configurations, VPNs, firewalls, VLANs, and monitoring tools.
