Senior Import/Export Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Lead and assist with ECCN determinations, export jurisdiction/classification assessments, and maintain HS/HTS classifications for semiconductor equipment, spare parts, components, electronics, software, and related technologies.

• Evaluate and confirm broker filings, customs documentation, customs valuations, country of origin declarations, and the applicability of trade remedies.

• Facilitate export control reviews, manage restricted party screening escalations, assess license requirements/decrementing, conduct license exception analysis, and perform voluntary disclosure evaluations.

• Execute post-clearance reviews, disclosures, and compliance inquiries.

• Design, document, and continuously refine export/import processes, controls, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and governance practices.

• Create exception reporting, validation controls, systemic data feeds, and compliance monitoring metrics.

• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, compliance analytics, and exception reporting for trade compliance KPIs.

• Identify operational and regulatory risks and promote data-driven decision-making.

• Collaborate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and external service providers to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.

• Lead trade compliance initiatives, system enhancements, and automation projects.

• Coordinate with logistics providers, customs brokers, procurement, engineering, and manufacturing teams to standardize global processes.

• Assist with internal and external audits and conduct regular reviews of trade compliance controls and records.

• Stay updated on regulatory changes and deliver risk assessments and recommendations to senior leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Doctorate (Academic) Degree with 3 years of related work experience; Master's Level Degree with 6 years of related work experience; or Bachelor's Level Degree with 8 years of related work experience.

• Preferred experience in semiconductor, electronics, advanced manufacturing, or other technology sectors.

• Knowledge of EAR requirements, ECCN classification, export licensing concepts, restricted party screening, sanctions/embargo controls, and technology/software transfer considerations.

• Familiarity with U.S. Customs regulations, tariff classification, valuation, country of origin, and import documentation.

• Experience in responding to export control inquiries, customs audits, and regulatory inquiries.

• Preferred certifications such as LCB, CCS, CES, or similar.

• Experience with SAP GTS, SAP, ACE reporting, or trade management systems.

• Proven expertise in crafting controls, validations, automation solutions, and exception-based monitoring.

• Advanced skills in Power BI dashboard development and data visualization.

• Proficient in Excel, including Power Query, Pivot Tables, and XLOOKUP.

• Capability to analyze large datasets and convert findings into actionable business strategies.

• Experience in supporting workflow automation and digital transformation initiatives.
