Senior II Software Engineer – Linux Performance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Evaluate system performance metrics.

• Design, implement, and enhance performance features.

• Engage in the introduction and commercialization of new servers and hardware.

• Expand metrics collection and develop visualizations to measure system performance.

• Create tools to expedite the identification of system performance issues.

• Enhance the efficiency and performance of Akamai's Intelligent Platform in both virtualized and bare-metal settings.

• Contribute to innovations in the Linux kernel and operating system for Akamai's extensive distributed network.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8 years of pertinent experience.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.

• Significant programming expertise in C.

• Familiarity with Rust, Python, Bash, or Perl.

• Profound knowledge of the Linux kernel.

• Understanding of computer system architectures and the interplay between software and hardware.

• Experience with virtualization technologies such as Qemu, KVM, SVM, and VHE.

• Background in hardware enablement and debugging, particularly in board bring-up and/or GPUs.

• Proficient with debugging and performance analysis tools like perf, bcc tools, and BPF.

• Expertise in concurrent programming, data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis.

• Familiarity with PCI express, CXL, CCIX, and USB.

• A strong passion for tackling challenging problems, independence, and dedication to code quality.
