Senior HVAC Energy Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Conduct site visits to identify energy savings opportunities in commercial and/or industrial locations, gather necessary onsite information for energy savings calculations, and present actionable and implementable measures for customers.

• Calculate and report energy and demand savings, along with greenhouse gas emission reductions for participant sites, in alignment with the California SEM M&V Guide.

• Write and contribute to technical documents and publications, ensuring quality review of the content.

• Provide overall project oversight, quality control/assurance, and keep customers and the project team informed of updates and required adjustments.

• Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to perform and lead technical tasks that support energy efficiency programs.

• Utilize in-depth knowledge of HVAC systems and controls, including reviewing Building Automation Systems both remotely and on-site, to uncover opportunities.

• Develop and rationalize methodologies for calculating energy savings.

• Apply understanding of IPMVP options for measurement and verification.

• Offer technical or strategic guidance on enhancing energy saving programs, recommend innovative solutions for program and client/utility policies, and advocate for solutions that will advance the energy efficiency sector.

• Collaborate with technical reviewers and evaluators to validate custom projects and defend program savings.

• Proactively address challenges faced with clients, contractors, regulators, and governing entities to resolve deficiencies and/or inconsistencies in calculations and policy compliance.

• Maintain client satisfaction while developing new client relationships.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably in mechanical or electrical engineering).

• Experience: 6-8 years of relevant experience in energy efficiency consulting, program implementation, or consulting engineering.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.

• Measurement and verification certification required.

• Field experience in independently conducting energy audits and verification inspections.

• Experience with BAS and/or RCx.

• Strong technical and non-technical writing and communication skills; ability to effectively communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with SQL, Power BI, or other data visualization and analysis tools is an advantage.

• Preferred knowledge of Strategic Energy Management.
