This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Lead the implementation of a comprehensive HSEQ strategy across EPC/EPCM projects.

• Provide expert advice to Project Directors and the leadership teams of EPC/EPCM.

• Promote the adoption of Ramboll’s HSEQ program and effectively translate expectations into project-specific controls and routines.

• Offer HSEQ guidance during the proposal phase and contract negotiations.

• Define the organizational structure for HSEQ, including roles, responsibilities, interfaces, and governance models.

• Develop standardized HSEQ execution plans applicable across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover phases.

• Set clear expectations for construction readiness, which encompass contractor mobilization, competency assurance, risk reviews, and field controls.

• Ensure alignment of HSEQ standards and performance requirements across contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and third-party entities.

• Manage contractor onboarding processes, conduct alignment sessions, audits, and performance reviews.

• Integrate HSEQ requirements into contracting strategies, procurement packages, bid documents, mobilization plans, and contractor management processes.

• Oversee and ensure effective risk management, hazard identification, construction risk assessments, high-risk work reviews, and site controls.

• Review safety controls related to lifting, electrical work, confined space entry, work at height, ground disturbance, energization, commissioning, and simultaneous operations.

• Provide oversight and escalation support for incidents with high potential or severity.

• Conduct site visits, engage with leadership, and perform assurance reviews.

• Mentor project and contractor leadership teams while fostering a proactive safety culture.

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental regulations, client expectations, and Ramboll standards.

• Represent Ramboll during client audits, regulatory inspections, and governance meetings.

• Establish HSEQ performance reporting utilizing both leading and lagging indicators.

• Convert performance data into actionable insights and recommendations for stakeholders.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Over 10 years of progressive leadership experience in on-site HSEQ roles.

• Extensive experience with large-scale EPC/EPCM projects.

• Strong background in managing multi-contractor, high-risk industrial construction settings.

• Capability to influence others without direct authority.

• Experience in supporting construction management delivery models through contractor execution and managing client/contractor interfaces.

• Practical knowledge of construction-phase HSEQ controls, contractor management, incident investigation, assurance, and regulatory compliance.

• Willingness to travel frequently to project sites.

• Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Preferred professional certifications include CSP, CMIOSH, NEBOSH, CRSP, or equivalent.

• Experience in energy transition, power, renewables, industrial decarbonization, chemicals, manufacturing, mining, or significant infrastructure projects is preferred.

• Experience supporting owner’s EPC/EPCM models across multiple concurrent projects is preferred.

• International or remote project experience is preferred.

• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
