This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana, +2 more states.
• Oversee the design and engineering of high voltage electrical systems for large-scale data center campuses.
• Create electrical system architectures that enhance reliability, redundancy, and scalability.
• Design utility-scale substations, distribution networks, protection schemes, control systems, and grounding solutions.
• Conduct studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, transient stability, harmonic analysis, and protective device coordination.
• Direct the utility interconnection strategy and coordination for projects requiring over 100 MW of utility capacity.
• Design medium voltage distribution loops, unit substations, diverse utility feeds, and redundant power architectures.
• Formulate campus electrical master plans and infrastructure roadmaps for phased multi-building data center projects.
• Incorporate solar arrays, battery energy storage, fuel cells, microgrids, and other sustainable energy solutions.
• Create designs for on-site generation, generator paralleling schemes, automatic transfer switch configurations, and grid-scale energy storage systems.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, engineering standards, design guidelines, and best practices.
• Counsel hyperscale clients on infrastructure strategies, capacity planning, and capital investment decisions.
• Assist in business development through proposal creation and technical presentations.
• Lead technical due diligence and long-term planning for electrical infrastructure.
• Perform design reviews to ensure technical accuracy, code compliance, and constructability.
• Offer field engineering support during high voltage construction and address complex field challenges.
• Develop commissioning plans and oversee transformer energization, relay testing, generator validation, and integrated system performance testing.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 8-12 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering with a significant focus on high voltage power systems, substation design, and mission-critical facilities.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing or the ability to secure licensure in multiple states.
• Extensive knowledge in medium voltage (4.16kV-35kV) and high voltage (69kV-230kV) electrical system design, substation engineering, and utility interconnection.
• In-depth understanding of data center electrical infrastructure, including redundant power architectures and Uptime Institute Tier Standards.
• High-level proficiency with SKM PowerTools, ETAP, and EasyPower.
• Proven experience in leading utility coordination and interconnection processes for large power consumers (100+ MW).
• Strong technical leadership and communication abilities.
• Preferred: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering.
• Preferred: Active PE license in multiple states.
• Preferred: LEED AP or a sustainable design credential.
• Preferred: IEEE Senior Member status or active involvement in professional societies.
• Preferred: Direct experience with hyperscale data center operators or major colocation providers.
• Preferred: Expertise in renewable energy integration, microgrid design, distributed energy resources, design-build/EPC delivery, campus master planning, digital substation technologies, and IEC 61850 protocols.
• Knowledge of medium/high voltage systems, utility-scale substations, transformers, switchgear, protective relaying, grounding, redundant data center power architectures, UPS integration, generators, battery storage, solar PV, fuel cells, and microgrids.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, arc flash and grounding analysis software, renewable energy modeling tools, SCADA platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with NEC/NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, IEEE, Uptime Institute, ANSI/NETA, utility interconnection, NERC, and OSHA standards.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.
