Senior Electrical Engineer – Nuclear

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate within a project team alongside engineers and designers on both new and existing electrical systems for nuclear power plants.

• Design, modify, and analyze electrical systems.

• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical engineering challenges.

• Prepare and review engineering design change packages.

• Conduct and assess engineering calculations, including AC/DC power studies, short circuit analyses, cable ampacity evaluations, voltage drop assessments, breaker coordination, motor starting, and protective relay settings.

• Create and evaluate equipment procurement specifications.

• Engage in vendor bid review processes and address vendor inquiries.

• Develop and review conceptual design scoping documents, including constructability analyses.

• Collaborate with Mechanical, Structural, Civil, and I&C disciplines.

• Interface with clients and vendors, review vendor documents, and provide written feedback.

• Participate in client meetings and conduct site field walkdowns.

• Travel to client and vendor offices, as well as plant sites for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification.

• Support site installation activities during project execution.

• Assist the project manager with project completion, scheduling, and budgeting.

• Initiate and communicate the scope of work, define deliverables, review team progress, submit status reports, track outstanding issues, resolve emerging challenges, and coordinate deliverables.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in the design of electrical engineering systems in a project team setting for industrial applications, particularly focused on existing nuclear power plants.

• Proficiency in the selection of equipment and materials, along with the preparation and assembly of engineering design change packages, calculations, and specifications.

• Experience in electrical system design, encompassing low and medium voltage distribution systems, transformers, generators, motors, and relays.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Detail-oriented work ethic.

• Ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear facility.

• Work authorization sponsorship is not available in the U.S.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not mandatory.

• Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) is preferred but not mandatory.
