Senior Health Physicist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and manage radiation protection audits, surveys, and inspections across all pharmacy locations.

• Conduct intricate radiation protection calculations, such as shielding design, dose modeling, effluent assessments, and strategies for exposure mitigation.

• Offer enterprise-level support during radiation-related incidents, including spills, overexposures, and coordination of emergency responses.

• Create and implement enterprise standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training programs dedicated to radiation safety and environmental health and safety (EHS).

• Oversee the preparation and submission of radioactive materials licenses, along with amendments, renewals, and decommissioning processes.

• Act as the primary liaison with state and federal regulatory bodies, encompassing Boards of Pharmacy, NRC, and state radiation control programs.

• Interpret and apply changing regulatory requirements, including USP standards.

• Provide expert advice on cleanroom microbiology, HVAC systems, and environmental monitoring procedures.

• Work collaboratively with pharmacy operations and quality assurance teams to ensure adherence to aseptic processing and facility design standards.

• Mentor and oversee Health Physicists and other radiation safety personnel.

• Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and Pharmacy Operations on inspections, audits, and initiatives for continuous improvement.

• Supervise the collection, analysis, and reporting of radiation safety data, which includes dosimetry, waste management, and incident reporting.

• Ensure timely and accurate documentation of radiation safety activities and regulatory communications.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's degree in Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Radiologic Science, or a related discipline.

• Over 5 years of progressive experience in radiation safety, health physics, or regulatory compliance, ideally within a healthcare or radiopharmaceutical setting.

• Certification or eligibility for certification from the American Board of Health Physics (CHP) is highly preferred.

• Proven experience in managing multi-site radiation safety programs and ensuring regulatory compliance.

• Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.

• Availability to respond to incidents on a 24/7 basis as necessary.

• Extensive knowledge of NRC and state radiation regulations, as well as USP standards.

• Strong leadership, mentoring, and project management capabilities.

• Exceptional analytical, communication, and technical writing skills.

• Proficiency in radiation modeling software and Microsoft Office applications.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
