This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Offer technical expertise and hands-on assistance for audits and assessments of radiation protection programs.
• Prepare and facilitate applications and amendments for radioactive materials licenses.
• Conduct decommissioning activities and final status surveys.
• Assist with TENORM projects and other specialized health physics tasks.
• Collaborate with clients involved in fusion energy, small modular reactors (SMRs), and other advanced energy technologies.
• Assess regulatory requirements and licensing factors for new energy technologies.
• Define suitable radiological protection standards.
• Engage directly with clients to comprehend their needs and devise practical, technically sound solutions.
• Execute field surveys and radiological evaluations.
• Carry out data analyses, technical reviews, and calculations.
• Create documentation and fulfill additional consulting project tasks.
• Deliver scheduled training courses on radiation safety and health physics as required.
• Monitor and interpret changing regulations, guidance, and developments within the industry.
• Utilize regulatory and industry knowledge to inform client projects and recommendations.
• Recognize potential project opportunities through client engagement and professional networking.
• Relay business development prospects to the relevant staff at NV5 Dade Moeller.
• Leverage technical expertise and project experience to assist the division in achieving operational and financial goals.
• Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Health Physics, Radiation Protection, a relevant technical field, or equivalent demonstrated professional experience.
• Over 10 years of technical and programmatic experience in radiation safety or health physics.
• Proven experience in evaluating, developing, implementing, or supporting radiation protection programs.
• Experience in addressing intricate technical and regulatory challenges.
• Capability to independently manage assigned technical tasks, prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines, and produce high-quality outcomes.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in conveying technical and regulatory concepts clearly to clients, colleagues, and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to build and sustain effective professional relationships with clients.
• Capacity to represent NV5 Dade Moeller with professionalism and credibility.
• Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, and Webex.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
• Preferred: Certified Health Physicist (CHP) certification from the American Board of Health Physics.
• Preferred: Master’s or doctoral degree in Health Physics, Radiation Protection, or a related field.
• Preferred: Previous experience in health physics or radiation safety consulting for public and private sector clients.
• Preferred: Established professional network within relevant industries.
• Preferred: Experience in developing or delivering training in radiation safety, health physics, or technical subjects.
