Senior Health Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take the lead as a subject matter expert in highly complex data extracts, programming, and analytical modeling to support both internal and external clients.

• Provide guidance and support to junior staff as necessary.

• Work collaboratively with health services researchers and business analysts to analyze extensive administrative claims, electronic medical records, and healthcare registry datasets.

• Create solutions for strategic business challenges by employing advanced modeling and statistical analysis techniques.

• Utilize SQL and Snowflake for sophisticated data extraction, transformation, and management.

• Document and oversee source code and algorithm libraries.

• Formulate and test hypotheses that support research and product offerings.

• Convey findings clearly, accurately, and in a manner that drives actionable outcomes.

• Manage complex operational data requests and generate ad-hoc queries using SAS and R.

• Assist in the evaluation of data analytics vendors and tools.

• Comply with confidentiality, HIPAA, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

• Execute other responsibilities assigned to ensure operational and financial success.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industries working with administrative claims data.

• Proficient SQL programming skills are essential.

• Experience with Snowflake is highly preferred.

• Proficient in using SAS and R is required.

• Proven problem-solving, analytical reasoning, and decision-making abilities.

• Experience in resolving data issues involving large, complex, and incomplete data sources.

• Business analytical skills, including process flows, procedures, spreadsheets, and modeling.

• Understanding of design and architecture principles.

• Strong project management capabilities.

• Ability to manage multiple projects independently with competing priorities.

• Excellent analytical skills with the capability to interpret results derived from advanced statistical techniques.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in both IT and business contexts.

• Capability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

• Advanced knowledge of healthcare, health policy, pharmaceutical, and related issues.

• A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics, Statistics, Engineering, Public Health, or a related field is required.

• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
