This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +45 more states.
• Develop high-quality code for intricate scenarios, ensuring robust test coverage.
• Analyze and convert product requirements into strong designs for modular, configurable, reusable, efficient, user-friendly, secure, compliant, scalable, and maintainable distributed application systems.
• Oversee design and code reviews across various applications.
• Guide the sprint team in delivering new or enhanced features.
• Resolve obstacles to providing high-quality solutions in the sprint backlog.
• Collaborate with teams and stakeholders to guarantee the successful delivery of desired functionalities.
• Mentor and offer technical guidance to fellow engineers.
• Promote a culture of innovation and excellence within Mercury engineering.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of software programming experience.
• At least 2 years of experience with the technologies utilized at Mercury.
• Over 1 year of experience in leading and mentoring engineering teams.
• Proficient in one or more industry-standard programming languages, such as Java, Python, Go, C++, or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with data structures, algorithms, design patterns, relational databases, NoSQL, and caching solutions.
• Experience with REST and gRPC APIs.
• Competence in message queuing, data streaming, workflow, and integration frameworks.
• Understanding of microservices architecture.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficient in DevSecOps practices.
• Background in designing and implementing distributed application systems.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Proven leadership in mentoring and providing technical guidance.
• Experience in shaping technical strategy and vision for a team.
• Preferred: 6 or more years of experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter configurations and integrations.
• Preferred: 4 or more years of experience with Java/J2EE.
• Preferred: 2 or more years of experience with Kafka, AWS, S3, Drools, Blaze, etc.
• Preferred: 2 or more years of experience with personal lines products.
• Preferred: 1 or more years of experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GUnit.
• Preferred: Experience in cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Preferred: Master’s Degree in Computer Science.
